Ah, true. Needed to onside kick either way.

at least 30 seconds+. More than enough time for a field goal.

I kind of feel bad for Goff who probably played well enough to win and had his receivers drop a lot of balls too

Especially when they had 0 points that entire half, they could barely move the ball. They finally manage to get in FG range, and suddenly they're convinced they can pick this up? Ridiculous

Dan Campbell needs to be fired for his bone headed moves. Had a chance to go up 17 points in the second half with a field goal. A few minutes later the 49ers have the lead.

With about a minute left, if you call timeout after three 49er running plays with no first down, they are punting the ball with maybe 40 seconds on the clock.
The Lions would have to gain 40 yards to be back in field goal range, with no timeouts, including having to get the Kicker on the field. Certainly not ideal but there is enough time

No way, this team had a better season than a expected, and as mentioned above, a large part of it is by Campbell's aggressiveness. This is a time it bit him in the ass, but it has made his team competitive.

I know that's Dan Campbells style' still it has to hurt big time when you cost your team a chance at going to the Superbowl. I can't imagine Lions fans being easy on him.

In the end that one is at least a little defensible...they've went for it on 4th down all year long and it was 4th and 2 from the 28.
But you need to kick the field goal to tie the game when there is 7:38 left in the game and SF had scored on 4 straight drives. You can't take the risk it's going to be a 2 possession game with less than 4 minutes left, and that's exactly what happened.

He is a fricking idiot but i have to commend him for winning 2 games. I thought his boneheaded decision making would cost the Lions in game 1.

Smart money is for the Chiefs anyway, if SF plays that way on defense Mahomes will crush them.
