I don't think this is written in stone but you kind of have to read the game state. That wasn't the time to go for it. No one was catching anything and Goff was throwing behind guys and over their heads. If you think Montgomery can get it sure but... nah.

You needed to keep it a one score game
I don’t even understand the first one, you are up, just keep matching them score for score and you win.

Man the big edge I thought the Lions had is Campbell and he's botched this game horribly.

It's almost like they're just happy to be there and cover the spread.

Huh, would look different with 2 field goals on the board.

The first one you could at least kind of see what he was thinking...in that San Francisco can put up points and you need to put TDs on the board.

But to not kick a FG to tie the game and keep it at worst a one possession game is one of the craziest things I've ever seen a coach do

You can run off 40 seconds per down and you have 4 downs. It's not like the CFL.

Ya you can get points to tie the game late. Why not?

Others must know way more than me.

I just think you are up there and you make the 49ers also play a longer field. You are up at the time, just keep making it harder, he made it easier.

no, dude i understand. what i mean is lets say they preserved the 3 time outs and then kicked it off. how much time would that have possibly left them with no time outs left to kick a field goal?

For Cambell he'll likely regret the first half FG on the goaline more. But not kicking the FG to tie is just ignorance. It isn't week five man, this is the Super Bowl!
