The Habs getting a lot in return for Mony would be great for the Flames because it would indicate what the trade market is at

He'll break his leg on the way to the airport.

Most important return at this point is first round picks IMO. Think less about it being trading for 25th and 22nd overall picks… but instead, think of it as the potential to package those picks plus anything not named Zary, Wolf or Coronato to a team with a pick in the 10th to 15th overall range… that gives the flames to come away with (fingers crossed) Iginla + a skilled center/defencemen in the top 15 of the first round. There will be a few teams picking in that range that might be looking to take a step forward next year because they are overdue to start being competitive (for eg. Detroit, Buffalo or Arizona). Offering them Coleman or maybe Andersson could get you another shot at a valuable prospect.

I haven't seen it listed on the CBC Gem app and the HNIC stream ends as soon as the game is over.

Any Gem local live feed should carry it. If you watch the SN feed it will send you off to SN Central.
Just head to live and choose a city. Should be good.

Could this be the offer that was tabled at the start of the year?

Yeah no.
Remember 2013. Feaster tried that and it didn’t work. And look at the outcome.
Nothing wrong with nhl ready players/prospects. Bird in hand is worth more than 2 in the bush.

Feaster's picks were not in the 10-15 range, nor did Feaster make other trades to improve the quality of the firsts.

to be fair there is a bargain UFA contract in there too...something only a few organizations seem to get

I get an error on Gem. Seems it's geo-restricted.

Feaster was going for a 1st overall pick in his trade. He was after MacKinnon which was an untouchable pick. This is an attempt to get a pick outside the top ten… which I think could be feasible depending on the team and picks/players involved.
For example, say (post-draft lottery) the flames had
8th overall
22nd overall (from Lindholm or Hanifin trade)
26th overall (from Lindholm or Hanifin trade)
40th overall
50th overall (from Tanev trade)
54th overall pick (from Lindholm or Hanifin trade)
And say Buffalo ended up with the 12th overall pick.
I could see a trade like this working:
To Calgary: 12th overall pick
To Buffalo: 22nd overall + 26th overall + 40th overall.
Not sure if that trade favours one team more than the other but, either way, I think it has the bones to becoming a fair trade even if it is tweaked one way or the other. Again, have to find the right trade partner… and you might be able to entice a team like Buffalo by offering a player like Andersson straight up for the pick. Or the flames could take back a bad contract like Connor Clifton to sweeten the deall. This is in a scenario where a player that Calgary really covets (like Iginla, hopefully) is available at that pick.

Get it done. Considering flames are hell bent on not rebuilding team, IMO it would be better to go with a Markstrom/wolf combo to start the re-tool.

I agree, but a Vlader Wolf combo would net us a few lottery picks in the next few years.
I honestly think Vlader is going to become a starter and a decent one at that.

I’m not as high on Vlader as you are. I don’t disagree that the combo could put us in the lottery. The problem is flames aren’t rebuilding. Since they are going to choose the re-tool route ,I want them to be as successful as they can picking that direction.

Flames are currently a lottery team with Markstrom. Don't see a big drop off with whoever is in net.

Would much rather trade markstrom for literally anything than Vladar. Keeping vladar and wolf on rotation for a few years is a good scenario for development. Gives us two solid horses that are growing and relieves us of the big cap hit.
Here’s a left field take but I’m still interested in Dubois as a buy low candidate. Imo the attitude issues are way overblown and stem from him trying to get his way early in his career. A trade to a place with other happy go lucky French Canadians might be a good fit to get him back in the right headspace.
what about trying something like Kadri for Dubois+la 1st + Clarke? Kadri might be convinced for an up and coming competitive team.
