They both can be bought out. It's just that the early years of Huberdeaus's make his impractical for the those years. PLD's buyout isn't exactly attractive either.

Of course they can be bought out...but Huberdeau's buyouts don't save anything substantial until the last year, when you save $4.7:

You could buyout PLD this off season and save at least $4,699,048 every year:

Dubois was another flavour of the month Treliving tried to go all in on. Thankfully he wasn't successful. Some talent but lacking much in the head, or the work ethic.
In other news, Staios in Ottawa apparently wants a 200 foot player. Would be a pretty good trading partner to get Lindholm. Don't know if it's been posted yet.

I don't remember Tre really trying to get Dubois. Stone/Eichel, but I do not remember Dubois.

I believe (and could be off the mark), that the Flames were willing to do Gaudreau or Tkachuk (before they broke out). Again, correct me if I'm wrong on this one.

Dubois was more fan fantasy I think. I don't really recall any rumors of the Flames kicking tires on Dubois.

If you buyout Hubby, you save about $6M. Simply no reason to do so.
If you buyout Dubois, you save about $31M. It is exceptionally attractive.

Yup. It still isn’t ideal but the 1/3rd buyout makes it an option if he really isn’t working out.

You save money but you pay him until the end of next decade. And you suffer with him while he’s on your team.

Will Butcher is a great example that progression is not always linear, it often peaks far sooner than you would think.

Did Conroy miss his opportunity to trade Lindy for a decent pick or player? I feel like he's playing it pretty close to the deadline and we might lose a few players for nothing.

Eh. Buy him out right away would be the imaginary plan. I’d easily trade Huberdeau for a 4 million dollar cap dump and that isn’t a real option. No way it would happen though

Eh. I don’t think he’ll get much less than the typical deadline return. 1st and b prospect

- Was also interested in Monahan but felt it it was too risky with his injuries
- Says there are concerns in the organization about Laine being injury prone and every time he takes a hit they all hold their breaths
- Scouts aren't too big on Hanifin because of his physicality and unwillingness to go into the corners
- Said Conroy is really trying to make deals but no GMs are wanting to make trades at the moment
With this I'm not going to be surprised if we don't make any deals with Columbus.

It’s a $2M cap difference. And between Huberdeau’s attitude and his improved production, I’m taking that hit.

You don’t keep either. That’d be the point
