I saw one evangelical person being interviewed who said something like, sometimes god needs to send down a demon (or evil spirit or some crap) to do god's work because it is the only way it can get done, and that's what they think trump is.
I believe the hypothesis here, but IMO the data doesn't prove it. There were only 100,000 total votes (IMO that's a rounding up) in this primary, about 50% of the total in the 2016 primary in Iowa. I don't think 100,000 just stayed home because of blizzard. Trump's loyal base may be shrinking in number.
Dick-tator-For-A-Day Donny is helluva way for Resident Rump to campaign, but also not surprising...

Silly question: as a fan of Line of Duty (a fictional UK crime drama featuring Anti Corruption Unit of police force that protects the public and the force from the threat of police corruption), could there ever be an Anti-Corruption/Accountability Unit that "polices" politicians? As I even type this I realize how much of a pipedream it is and how much staffing would be required to operate such a thing...truly tired of the blatant lies and misleading of politicians to get elected and gain power at any costs...
If they don't want to fund the IRS, they certainly won't fund this, great idea though

I just don't understand how this is happening. Trump is a legit idiot, and he's under investigation for multiple counts of corruption. And on top of that he's now 77 years old, which will put him well into his 80s by the time he's done being president. Surely, there must be a better candidate in the entire USA.
The worst part is that Biden is becoming so uncharismatic and sleepy that Trump might win head vs head with Biden.

If it's a headbutting competition my money is on Joe.

Not with Republicans there isn't. To the MAGA crowd, Trump is basically a god.
That being said, Trump hasn't grown his base at all beyond the hardcore evangelical MAGA cult. If anything it's been shrinking over the last couple of years, especially after the Jan. 6th insanity. If he wants to win a general election, he's gonna have to win over a hell of a lot more voters than the MAGA lunatics who already worship him. 44% of Republican voters just voted against him in Iowa, and it looks like thousands of people also just stayed home and didn't vote at all. That can't be good.

Inflation is a big problem for Biden. Even though it would be tough to make a case that it was his fault or that his admin hasn't managed the economy about as well as possible with balancing fighting inflation and not putting the country in a recession, he has become the poster boy for high prices since they went up a lot during his term. I don't know how he escapes from that. Inflation is the worst problem for a president because unlike unemployment that even in high unemployment affects a small percentage, inflation affects everyone.
Considering there are voters who support Trump because they are pro-choice and blame Biden for Roe being over-turned during his term, I don't see a way out.
I'd consider voting for Haley in a primary if it gets at all competitive. I don't agree with much or any of her policies, but I don't think we survive another term of Trump with any somewhat moderating force in his circle gone. Who the hell is going to be in his cabinet this time around?
Problem is Biden is a Catholic. Many evangelicals despise catholicism.
Christian: What part of the bible is your favourite, Mr. Trump?
Trump: uh, you know, it’s all good. I like the god stuff, it’s pretty good. God and Jesus. Yeah.
Christian: Sold!

This guy knows the bible... you might think you know the bible, but nobody knows the bible better than Donald J Trump.
You got your Jesus, you got your Joseph... you got other names that begin with J... camels! There were camels in the bible too! Now a camel is a funny animal isn't it? All that water stored in that hump and just walking around the desert doing camel things, I tell you nobody knows camels better than Donald J Trump.

You'd think that would be a no brainer for Trump

Was he holding the Bible upside down standing in front of a church he doesn’t attend when he said that? Was it one of the Bibles he autographed?

Or, alternatively, why bother voting when it's super obvious Trump will win anyway?
Sounds like Carroll/Trump trial is starting off pretty rowdy. Trump has been talking with his lawyers loud enough for the jury to hear, slammed his hand on the table at one point, and has been threatened with being barred from the trial if he can't control himself. And Trump's lawyers moved to disqualify Trump. And get reprimanded by the judge for not following basic rules of court.
Good fund-raising fodder I guess.

Trump does that on purpose. He wants to get tossed by the judge so he can cry to his supporters that he's being treated unfairly by some partisan judge who doesn't like him.
