Probably not the right thread but rather than create a new one, wonder if others are thinking the same thing, right now is probably a great time to sell high on a guy like Coleman?

We talking about the same Oilers who plan their entire franchise around the PP?

It has been a long time since this organization has traded a player of consequence that hasn’t asked to leave or wasn’t going to re-sign.

In the last 10 years there has been Ferland. Anyone else? I suppose Monahan but that wasn’t trading a player, it was a contract dump.

I doubt they trade guys like Coleman or Markstrom unless they ask to go.

Exactly. They play the same guys on the entire powerplay… the full 2 minutes of every powerplay if they don’t score. I don’t think they’ll be looking for a powerplay specialist for a second unit that never gets out there.

Hey you know who'd look really good between Huberdeau and Sharangovich?

He plays for NJ....

Are you related to that guy or something? You sure love the player.

The more I think about it, the more I think Lindholm ends up with Colorado. I think he fits what they need and their cap dump for him would likely be Ryan Johansen… that allows Calgary to gain a bit of value by taking back a bad contract but it’s also a center for a center trade. Obviously Lindholm’s a much better player than Johansen but it might be a slight attempt for Conroy to hedge his bets on the season. He could hope that Johansen fits in well with Huberdeau and Sharongovich while gaining future assets. Gives the flames a slight chance to stay in the race for a playoff spot. I know most of us are not expecting them to make it and it will only hurt their draft position but Conroy’s comments the other day make me think he might not completely give up on the season.

If the flames end up retaining 50% on Lindholm and taking back Johansen’s contract, I think they should at least get a 1st round pick + 2nd round pick + B-level prospect. Who knows… if the flames find themselves in the same position next season, they might be able to get a bit of a return for Johansen at next year’s deadline if he produces with top minutes on the flames next year.

Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, or Dawson Mercer would.

Michael McLeod wouldn't look that good on an offensive top line though if that's who you're referring to.

Nope, just an unshakable belief in some players.

Nichushkin was one, Razz was another (wanted the Flames to draft him well before he did in fact get drafted) , Shilly. Oh and one of the few who loved the Sharky trade.

Either of them would. What's Lindholm been doing there but just playing solid 200ft hockey and winning key faceoffs and gets PP1 time? Who plays exactly like that but better with no PP time?

You're including all the good players but excluding pretty much every Russian prospect ever and a bunch of others over the years that didn't work out.

It's okay, but I am confident that if McLeod came over in a trade, he'd slot in nicely there. And perhaps better because he's faster than Sharky.

I wanted Nichuskin too. But I doubt the Flames would've stuck with him through his slower developmental curve. Probably gets traded a few years in like with Bennett.

If we take Johansson back and retain on Lindholm and all we get back is a late 1st, a late 2nd, and a B prospect I would be pretty damn underwhelmed.

At no stage in his career has he shown that he would have the offensive instincts and skills to play on a top line. His OHL production wasn't amazing, his AHL production was average, and his NHL production has been pretty meh.

He could be a speedy third line center but that's about it.

If the Devils are moving him it's because they feel like they could sell high on his shooting percentage bender he's on this year.

If he was 23 or even 24 then maybe I'd buy there be some upside left there offensively but he will be 26 in 3 weeks and he's never shown it offensively at any level really.

Yup if you're retaining AND taking Johansen then I'd want

1st
2nd
Ritchie
B Prospect
Johansen

You can't really bank that Johansen can be flipped for more value...Nashville retained 50% and got literally nothing back in return.

If you get out with 1st and Ritchie that's a win imo. Johansen isn't horrid either.
