Captain is held to a higher standard...should probably speak up if they know something or even worse were there

Rape accusations aside, he just hasn't delivered as Flame. Some players I would expect to develop but he is no spring chicken and has plenty of time and linemates to prove himself with.

Now, as a fan, it's kind of hard to ignore that whole WJ rapey thing. So putting that in the mix, I'd really like to see him shipped out.

Doubt he gets anything good in return though.

well yeah

"this player is terrible and might be a rapist who will be suspended they should trade him for X good player or asset"

lol

If we get a chance to try Duclair with Huberdeau in Calgary before having to commit to a contract that would be plenty

The WJC thing needs to be resolved soon. Not sure what the hold up is there.

Aside from that, Dubes fallen off a cliff and needs a fresh start elsewhere, that's just the reality of the situation.

So those wanting to move Kadri how are you going to convince the team that just spent $11.5M on a winger to take him?

Careful with some of the wording. Being a leader on that team means taking on responsibility for the conduct of that team and it could have a pretty negative effect if you do have a conscience.

I am not advocating trading Kadri but I would be surprised if he turned down an opportunity to rejoin the Avs if it presented itself. I don’t think he goes anywhere but have trouble seeing it be Toronto or bust for a 33 year old who ultimately is looking to win again

Hoping that's as far as it goes.
He hadn’t been captain of that team for quite a while though. The event was well after the tournament. Plus being captain of an all star tourney team is different than being captain of a club team. It’s more of an honorary deal based somewhat on seniority, usually before the team has even practiced together.

Hockey Canada had decided on sanctions for the players involved, but the players had a chance to appeal the decision and have chosen to do so. Last update that Rick Westhead provided was that the whole thing likely wouldn't be resolved until closer to the spring because they had to assemble and vet a whole new panel for that process.

As I said before I have extremely reliable intel that Kadri does not want to move and definitely does not want to go back to the US. Him being from the London area I am just speculating he would go back to Toronto but he is not going back to Colorado. I actually doubt he would even move to Toronto either seeing how I know for a fact he moved a lot of his family to Calgary when he signed long term here. He has a SC and he loves the city, he has no reason to want to leave. I think he also is really enjoying working with our young players.

Any idea where the Kadri doesn't wanna do a rebuild comment by (I think it was) TSN came from?

This completely misses the mark.

Tampa would love to still have Coleman, and still would, except all their stars got raises and they couldn't afford to keep him (and a couple other guys).

Now, their depth sucks and they probably won't make the playoffs this year, despite still having that same star-studded core.

Great teams have great depth players. Coleman was one of those players in Tampa. And they would kill to have him back right now.

Also, Coleman is not an 'average' player. He is a very good player who does his job every night.

What I think shouldn’t be lost here is something that was discussed on this morning’s 32 thoughts pod and perhaps already discussed today but the Flames, or any rebuilding team, should want to have some pros on the team to groom the next batch. That’s what Ottawa is lacking. To avoid a 10 year boondoggle of a rebuild, the Flames are going to want to keep the Backlund, the Coleman’s, the Kadri's the Weegar’s, and the Markstrom’s.

Is there a chance one or two of tgise guys gets dealt, yeah, probably. But I don’t think the Flames are shopping them for the sake of getting younger at all costs. They’re going to want some vets and maybe all of the above. If someone else wants them, I doubt it comes cheap.

Coleman is a good player but his contract is way too big for any contender. Tampa has lost a ton of players due to their success, latest ones were Killorn and Palat who got massive UFA deals. None of these players are worth their deals but teams overpay for championship experience.

Cole.an should stay for at least 2 more years. Then see where we are at and make a decision

True, I'm sure many contenders will want him at 50%. No reason to get rid of him now though, good veteran player who brings it consistently.

Not sure about this.

He's at 1.86 points / 60 in a Calgary uniform. This year that would be forward #150 in points / 60.

His salary at $4.9M is $0.4M above the 150th highest paid forward at $4.5M

Add in the shut down role, the fact that he kills penalties, and his leadership qualities and he's pretty much paid what he should be paid.
