It is simple make sure that you don't buy into too much to your team and be honest in your assessment as to how good they are.
I think we saw that with Treliving a lot he thought the Flames we better than they were and most of his bad moves came out of this thinking.

I think that's a fair criticism of Treliving; I think they got a bit too caught up in the success of 2015 and thought they were further along in their development as a team than they actually were.

Yes basically he bet on the core he had built, and prematurely perhaps. But the manifestation of that error was in the Neal, and Hamonic moves.
To have any shot of contending the team needed a goalie, so not sure what folks think the alternatives were. And for the most part Markstrom has been a legit #1, removing last season and the horrible playoffs against the Oilers.
i don't see Markstrom as being one of Tree's glaring errors.

I am all good with truth as well, maybe you can work with people starting with yourself that truth isn't just whatever fits your biased narrative. It is ok to say the Flames aren't super duper awesome every time and that they make mistakes when the truth clearly shows that.

Moon has to be the least self aware/most unintentionally hilarious poster on the site with a steady stream of comments like this in arguments he puts himself in and proceeds to badly lose. 10/10.

LOL
Never lost an argument on here yet, although for the most part they aren't really arguments just pointing out where people are wrong.

If anything, people on CP (including Moon) were harping on Tre for not being able to get a legit #1. He signed Markstrom and people still complain. It's a fun cycle.

Removing all the data points that don’t support the conclusion is not analysis. I think Treliving was justified to spend money after the 18-19 season, but spending it on goaltending is just a bad idea in my opinion.

Overall Markstrom was not a bad move, they need a goalie anyway.
But his meltdown against the Oilers were the biggest disappointment in the Treliving era. They guy went all in , only to find out his goalie failed him in that playoff and he never recovered from it

I know it is your schtick to be a homer and defend Bingo at every step but this is a stretch even for you.

Imagine if they beat the Oilers and lost to the Avalanche with Markstrom playing respectably. The point would still be the same.

A win against the Oilers would have been a moral boost.

Part of me wants to point out the hilarity of you disagreeing with me again (we all need hobbies)
Part of me wants to point out the silly projection about being sensitive and needing to "get over it" since it didn't take green text to see the tongue-in-cheek tone of my response.
But part of me also wants to point out that your "response" was what the internet refers to as a drive-by post and is usually frowned upon in "internetting" as it adds nothing to the discourse and is a bit rude.

It seemed like the organization soured on Talbot after losing the Stars series but he wasn't really that bad with a .913 SV% as it was a team loss. In my entire life of watching NHL hockey I have never seen a single player tank a playoff series like Markstrom did against the Oilers. That was maybe the one chance the Flames had to do something in the playoffs and he basically made sure it didn't happen all by himself. I like the guy and have nothing against him but that was the all time least clutch playoff series ever as he went from fantastic series against the Stars to not being able to stop a beach ball against the Oilers.
