And even if he made a mistake in signing a particular player, it doesn't follow that signing that type of player was a mistake.  
Signing James Neal was an error.  Thinking the team needed a proven goalscorer with size to complement Gaudreau and Monahan wasn't necessarily a mistake.
Trading for Hamonic was a mistake.  Thinking the team needed another solid defenceman who wasn't highly paid, to compliment Hamilton, Gio and Brodie was not necessarily an error.
