First thing it will spark is the Flames being non compliant with the cap, unless CLB retain 75% of JGs salary.

.... I guess it was Bruce Garrioch.

How can he be made available with a NMC?

I saw some non Aaron Portzline writer for Columbus suggest that they would consider moving Gaudreau a couple weeks back. This writer was a bit delusional thinking the Jackets would want a "haul" for Gaudreau in the player, prospect, good pick return.
His contract isn't Huberdeau bad, but I think to move it without any retention would be very difficult to move.
He does have 7 points in his last 6 and 9 in his last 10. He's also -12 in that time too. Have not looked into his advanced numbers of truth. Last I knew they suggested the counting stats should turn in his favor as he had a really low shooting percentage early on.

Columbus can still initiate trade talks with any team, then present the opportunity to Gaudreau to see if he approves. I don't think GMs let NMC's hold them back from shopping players, they just know that the player has the final say. Having said that, signing Gaudreau was such a huge PR win for a franchise that typically can't lure the highest profile free agents. I doubt they want to pull the plug on him yet.

Yeah, great PR… they get to realize how much it sucks to be involved in the UFA market. Feels like a win for 5 seconds.

Ya, there is no way he approves. The guy literally threw away the chance to be an all time franchise player to move to Columbus to appease his new bride who now works in her dream hospital, he isn't waiving anything. I heard they also have another child on the way, Family Guy is quite happy half assing it in Columbus for his big money.

I think that Gaudreau to Philly for Farabee and Brink would work for both sides. It would eliminate Columbus as a destination for Lindholm.
The family connection and hospital are definitely a factor, but on the other side of the coin, marrying a professional athlete, you sort of know what you are getting into.

Gaudreau said after signing in Columbus he didn't want to be that close to family and friends all the time. Not happening. He would have signed the Devils offer if that were the case.

It’s a garbage for garbage trade
Lucic was better than Neal but that doesn’t say much. Like saying I rather have a heart attack instead of a stroke

Calgary saved a ton of cash on that deal, as Lucic had a lot of his contract already paid. That was huge for Calgary.

Ok for the rich owner, didn’t help on the cap situation. They were able to buy out Neal. Any way it’s a different kind of poison. I wouldn’t bother claim victory on ether side except the pick the Flames got

I get what you're saying - it didn't work out as planned for either side - but the Flames were definitely the victor of that trade. We got a player that was better over the term of the contract, a pick, and Lucic had a lower cap hit (due to retention).

And they still aren't paying Lucic almost 2M for the next two years to not play for them either.

Would you do
Huberdeau & Pelletier for Gaudreau or Huby and 2- 2nds for gaudreau. I think I would at this time for just how bad Huby contract has looked, a fresh start for both players.

Pelletier for sure the picks probably not.
Doesn't matter as I doubt Gaudreau waives to come back.

you need to stop typing and read the responses
yes the Flames have a cap advantage, this season and next
Oilers wish they had that cap space right now that they are paying Neal, it would be huge for them

The Neal buyout really has nothing to do with the trade. Flames probably still slightly won it anyway, but the buyout was a separate choice they made.

the buyout was the other option for the Flames, so it has everything to do with the trade
Also, he is the one who mentioned the buyout in favor of the Oilers though so in context my reply is spot on as were others
you can also read lol
