PP1? Huberdeau has done nothing to demonstrate he belongs on either of them. He should be stapled to the bench when we're on the powerplay. Salary aside he's shown no inclination to be deserving of any powerplay time whatsoever.

It’s only funny if you have a successful PP. They don’t.
And yeah the sheltering you are referring is comical

Hopefully he finds all of that on his next team. Later this season.

Tough part is he's actually not playing bad right now, puck just won't go in.
Over these last 12 games:
Corsi %: 55.3% (1st)
Scoring Chances %: 55.6% (1st)
High Danger %: 58.5% (1st)
Expected Goal %: 55.0% (2nd)
On ice Expected Goals For: 7.84 (1st)
Goals %: 40% (5th)
On ice goals: 4
Shooting Percentage: 4.55% (11th)
They are generating chances and are playing strong defensively as a line still but the puck just isn't going in for them at 5v5 as a line these past 12 games.
The Kadri line is being fed soft minutes and are taking advantage of it. But The Mangiapane-Lindholm-Sharangovich line has not been good at 5v5 though and is getting cratered.
10-11-20: 50% GF% (4-4) ; 52.6% xGF%
47-91-76: 100% GF% (4-0); 55.0% xGF%
88-28-17: 33.3% GF% (2-4); 41.6% xGF%
They really should probably try flipping Huberdeau and Mangiapane. Huberdeau is generating with Backlund and Coleman but doesn't fit production wise, and Mangiapane just fits better overall with Backlund and Coleman.
They seem to refuse to give Huberdeau-Lindholm-Sharangovich another look though. (File this under "Things that are weird"...10-28-17 played more minutes together in 4 pre-season games (17:24) than they have in 35 Games in regular season (14:25))
That or put him with Zary...they make plays together whenever they do get on the ice together.

You think there is some chance Huberdeau could be moved this season?
I’m sure contenders are lining up to use their slim cap space to take on a $10.5MM cap hit for an older player getting decent ice time on pace for about 30 points. And owed about $80MM overall.

I think he's going through the motions at this point, the effort is worse than it was a couple of weeks ago when I last watched. You'd think it would be the opposite. Maybe he's hurt lol? If not I guess the trade really broke this guy.

He's not exactly lighting it up 5-on-5.
He cant play against top lines. He cant play against bottom lines.
Beyond that Huska's only option is to play him as one of the guys that scrapes the ice during TV timeouts except he'd probably get a shovel-full of snow and miss the bin.

Just waiting for someone to come in and tell us how his contract isn’t hurting the team right now but might be later!

Zero points in December. Zero
That's over 12 games. 12.
Makes you think that he's planning for player of the week with a 10 point game on December 31...

I thought it was troubling at Halloweens and bad at Thanksgivings. Now that Christmases is over, I am resigned to this being reality.

It crazy how a guy went from an all time LW player to a fringe Nhler in just over 100 games.
Flames sweater must be this guys kryptonite.

His New Years resolution should be to make up the millions of unjustified money he's making by doing labour on Darryl Sutter's ranch this summer.
A few decades worth of labour might have to be deferred but what's fair is fair.

Except it takes 4 to 6 games for the flames to score 10 goals.

Let’s not be too tough. Huberdeau has as many assists since Remembrance Day as Kris Letang has…today.
