What goal posts?
$200

The goalposts moving is that not being traded is different than refusing being traded - maybe he never gets asked.

Okay sure, but then why jump in on that particular conversation if you don't disagree? Unless your goal was just to be contrarian, in which case, bully for you! You've done it old chap! Keep a pace with the conversation, you'll have many a chance to step in with another quip or jape!

No need to be sensitive or sarcastic. You talked like you have spoken to him personally, and unless you have, you simply don't know.
How about this: let's make the bet about him being asked to approve a trade - if he does, I win, if he refuses (for the remainder of his contract), you win.

How will you know if he’s approached to waive for a trade ?

The lead up and the fallout from his leaving Vancouver was heavily discussed here in Vancouver. I don't know him personally, but what's been reported paints a pretty

I'm not making a bet on something that can be reported and have it be not true, that's a ####ty bet. It's gotta be something that's not disputable.

Or losing a bet on a report he was asked to waive and said no that turns out to be false. It's not a good bet for anybody.

We might not. But we also don't know that he won't leave Western Canada - that's the point. There are no certainties here, so let's not make claims that there are.

At the time of Markstroms signing, it did seem like he very much wanted to be in Western Canada. I remember thinking that was a bit odd but fortunate for the Flames.
Who knows how he fells now that the team is in a completely different place. I still hold out hope that he might consider a move to a contender though and the Flames can retain on the contract to actually get a decent piece back.

yeah if he finishes his contract in Calgary and we are uncertain if he was ever asked that should be a push...not a Blaster win

The threat of being sent to Winnipeg is a good negotiating tactic.

For the sake of 4M he's going to throw 8.5M away? I might be misunderstanding it but that's assuming he doesn't sign where he's traded to as he wants to test the open market.

I've only been to Edmonton once. The first thing I said was "This is like Winnipeg only bigger".

I spent 1991-1999 (my teen years) in Grand Prairie, and that entire pos town loves the Oilers. I wore my flames winter coat, proudly.

I doubt it’s as much about loving the area as wanting stability. Uprooting your life to move to another city is hugely disruptive. You and your spouse lose your home and social network. Your children lose their playmates, school, and teachers. Swedes put a huge premium on family stability. Markstrom insisted on an a NTC because he didn’t want to move for the length of the contract. It’s likely he still doesn’t want to.

So he spends a few months there and then goes UFA.
How does that help Calgary, as the Jets know 100% he’s a rental.
Lindholm well knows if he doesn’t sign he’s likely going somewhere for a few months. Since he’d be on the road anyway half the time, his family is not uprooted, they’ll simply move when he signs elsewhere.
