Would love to see at least 3 or 4 teams going after Lindholm. If Pittsburgh can get on a roll, I think they could go after someone like Lindholm. Their window is so short now so I could see them going for it if they can solidly a playoff position before the trade deadline. They don’t have much outside of their first round picks and Brayden Yager (but he definitely a great prospect).
As mentioned previously, the Rangers have a few young pieces/prospects that they could make a solid offer. Carolina could also be interested in Lindholm. Winnipeg could be a good option as well.

Get their 1st rounder for that year and maybe the Flames can get multiple tries at McKenna

But teams don't really trade picks without top 10 protection anymore. The few times it does happen (Ottawa) is just further lesson for future deals.

Lohrei is 6"5 and projects as a two-way top 4 D-man. His trajectory so far has been similar to that of D. Toews and Slavin with a bit more offensive.
He's also almost NHL-ready.
I'd say he's the same tier as Calum Ritchie and Gulyayev.
As much as we would all like a spicier prospect, I don't think you get much better of a prospect for Lindholm at this point.
A Lohrei + 1st + debrusk/geekie/frederic seems realistic to me and aligns with what I believe Conroy is looking for.

Would it have costed Tkachuk, like was speculated though?
If Eichel would've extended long term it would've been better for the team today though, seeing how things played out with Tkachuk. But in 2021-22 I'm not sure anything would've beat that Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk line. Eichel also took some time to get back up to speed.

Because of those two factors, I don't think Eichel was ever coming here except for a significant overpay.

I agree, I think this is the exact trade target we need for the backend. Plus, if you could aquire Geekie and a first (as suggested above), we were already on the fast track to retooling with skilled, big youth.

Teams don’t protect picks for multiple drafts so if they get the 2025 pick top 10 protected it will be unprotected in 26

He was already signed long-term, part of what made it an interesting prospect. His current deal that runs through to the end of 2025/26 was signed with Buffalo.

I think Eichel to Calgary would have cost Tkachuk.
We all would do that now but at that time it would have been difficult.
If a deal revolving around Mangiapane was possible, we missed out big time.

As part of the ‘something now’ part of a deal with Boston, Beecher would be a nice pickup. 22-year old, 6’3” centre with defensive acumen and decent upside.

Suck to think about that now.
Buffalo made then right call even though Kerbs sucks.
If it was Zary, Mangipane and a 1st well Buffalo lost on the better prospect but ended up with a better NHL player.

Friedman on 32 Thoughts pod this morning really selling the Devils on needing Hanifin.
IMO it feels like for at least one of the UFAs that will be a destination. Lines of communication probably still open following the deal this past summer.

I don't think my erection would end in this calendar year if we could pull off something like this absolute coup.

I was pretty surprised when I checked cap friendly and did not see any trade protection listed for Meier.

You can only have trade protection in years you would be UFA. This was Meier's last year as RFA.
Same reason Matthew Tkachuk's trade protection with Florida didn't kick in until this year.
