I don't even understand this Paul Coffey statement "Make the plays." Look, I aint no Dallas Eakins, but I'm pretty well versed on the nuances of the game. Shouldn't the first thing you are telling your D-core is to 'Break up the plays, STOP the plays...."? As a defenseman that's kinda your primary job. Master that, then learn how to do an end to end toe-drag followed by a 'Michigan' lacrosse style goal on every rush.
If the Oilers were a person, they'd be that guy that boots up the Xbox and plugs in a racing game. And all they add to the car is Engine parts and turbos. No brakes, no tires, no suspension upgrades to improve the cars handling. Just a giant, one dimensional engine that does one thing and keeps smashing into the wall.
They are that guy that goes to the driving range 30 times a year, takes their whole bag, but only pull out ONE club, their driver. And the one time a year they actual go and play on a city/public course as a solo walk on, they brag about how 'long' they are when they are on deck waiting to go. Even though they're hitting bombs down the middle off the tee, they're coming in with a snowman on every hole because they literally have no concept of how to run a short game and are shanking every iron into the bush. And because Edmonton, they are also wearing a white belt, white Oakleys on the BACK of their hat, and are draped head to toe in under armour gear.
I could really go on forever and keep writing out metaphoric analogies on the shortcomings of the Oilers, and all Edmontonians as a whole, but really all that needs to be said is.
Edmonton is no good.

Skinner needs a better backup (Pickard has a better Save %) and MIGHT get burnt out (he is on pace to play 62 games).
Sounds like both Yaremchuk and Cohen have had a few sessions of Coach's Story Time with Paul Coffey.
With more teams looking for a goaltender the time to trade for one was probably a month ago.
Also with the Flames being one of the teams with an asset available, if they don't like the prices, well... that's their problem.
They can and will sit in it.

The Edmonton Oilers and General Manager Ken Holland would like to announce that the team has acquired goaltender Jacques Bellecampe. Bellecampe is expected to tandem with Stuart Skinner.

Reaching so hard for moral victories about a guy with 1 point in 23 games he must've left scratch marks in the booth.

Yes, I saw the version with Dreger 's name in the headline as well. Typical shill and water boy for the franchise, and then covering it up an hour later is even more amusing and damning.
Clear he got his Oilers "positive vibes only" Christmas media bonus because to spin a defenseman that no one wanted, flailing away on one of the worst AHL teams and the Oilers don't want on their main team, as some key price to the trade puzzle, is a complete leap of logic, pathetic journalism and just sad. I am sure Seravilli is next up on the list.

its just hard to imagine a parallel universe (and of course Wranglers are actually a good team) where a 'name' TSN contributor produced an article resuscitating the trade value of Cole Schwindt or Yan Kuznetzov. its so random

That's because their ATOI is too low to be "sweeteners".

Oilers are probably in discussions on a trade, and offered up Broberg, and the other side said "you're going to have to do better than that".
Next morning, Dreger and company run an article, pumping the virtues of the highly-sought-after, future top-pairing, Philip Broberg.

Too many water boys. How many people are in cahoots with deviated septum? And more importantly - why?
