I doubt that question was sarcastic.

Good for her though, nice to see a Calgarian getting notice.
Yeah, never heard of her in the slightest either before this week; then again her music is a genre/style that I'm definitely not into and wouldn't go searching for either. Good for her though, I she absolutely kills it! Calgary represent too

Flames win, oilers lose and Trumps favourite mma fighter Covington looked about as useless as the oilers defense tonight. Good night on all accounts.

Quiet game thread for sure. Jealous of all you company christmas partiers tonight…in recent years my work has elected to go with ‘Christmas lunches’ to avoid any kind of extracurricular Christmas fun that could occur.

My wife loves so you think you can dance, I actually remember her from the season when 13 year olds competed, from memory she came in second place and was truthfully robbed, she dominated the whole season, and the boy who won had a good night. Probably would have remembered it if not so impressed that it was a Calgarian nearly winning the American competition.
Another Calgary dancer, Lukas McFarlane, who trained with my son, went on to win the 250K GBP prize on Got to Dance in the U.K. ten years ago. He was a few years older than Tate and my son, but they were often at competition together and performed together.

Back on topic, I am truly impressed with Zary. His tendency to consistently be in the right place and do the right thing at the right time is well beyond his level of experience. We could be looking at the next Lindholm (in his prime), especially if they develop him further at centre. And on tonight's insurance goal, it almost looked as though he was channeling Iginla.

Of all the things that Zary is doing well - and there are a lot of them - the one that surprises me the most is how often he wins puck battles. The goal tonight was a perfect example - with the defender leaning on him, you just assume that he will eventually lose possession, but he keeps driving through, maintains possession, and turns it into a goal.

Yes, brings back memories of #12. It's been too long since we had a player like that.

For all the ‘character player’ hype we heard about Jeannot last year coming over to TB from Nashville … to me he just looked like another dirty Kassian-type plug tonight. Didn’t do much, poked Vladar, gave pospisil a couple cheap shots. Looked like the Wish version of Tom Wilson. And that’s being generous.

Zary is tied for 4th in rookie scoring and has played 7-11 less games than the players ahead of him.

I suspect he ends up with sole possession of 2nd behind Bedard when all is said and done (only 1 point back of 2nd currently).

0.76 PPG vs 0.83 for Bedard.

Well, he is a few years older than Bedard, but he is performing above any reasonable expectation we had for him at this point.

nobody is saying he is better than Bedard but being the 2nd best rookie in the league this year looks like a real possibility. His points aren't just rando 2nd assists the guys is playing great.

About Zary and Bedard -

Their even strength production is about the same but one guy is +5 and the other is -15

Yeah, not sure the argument is around him being in Bedard's league, but about him being a contender in the rookie race. Definitely now that he's basically closed the gap on 2nd and 3rd.

The statement I quoted did compare him directly to Bedard, but I'm sure nobody would seriously have the same expectations of those two players. Not trying to be critical, just trying to not get too over-hyped about him, because the extra years mean that he is developmentally ahead of most of the other top rookies.

That being said, I still think that last night's goal was very Iginla-esque.

That video has a staggering 228 million views.

Kiesza is probably in that conversation with 284M views and she recently played a free concert at Olympia Plaza.

Strictly in terms of making money Tate has a much more promising career ahead of her. She just announced her world tour that has 54 dates across 3 continents in rooms that hold anywhere from 4000-8000 + her brand new album is crushing it on streaming platforms (she even has a song named Calgary on the album). Also for those that don't know she's doing a home town show at Cowboys Tent on the first Friday of Stampede. Pretty cool for a 20 year old.

Kiesza as talented as she is, is more of a one hit wonder with all due respect.

As for the hockey game nice win. Always good when the Flames win and Oilers lose.
