I never said per game - he played the 2nd most minutes that season.

Which if talking about guys being sheltered is probably more important because if guys miss games due to injury then how is he being protected?

Also 7th in TOI/GP is also misleading when you include guys that played 1, 3, and 18 games as Panther that season. So at worst he was 2nd in total EV TOI, and 4th in EV TOI/GP.

Either way he was a top 6 forward at worst, was on the same line as Barkov and a top line forward for a lot of his time in Florida, and produced at an elite clip no matter how you cut it.

Saying he's a middle 6 forward that couldn't play top line, or not removing the guys that played minimal games to say "he's 7th in TOI/GP" is just misrepresenting what really happened in Florida.

Huberdeau was obviously not a middle-six guy in Florida. Ridiculous

Right. He was a tweener at best. Barely cracked the fourth line.

You can’t make me feel bad about a regulation loss this year.

(I know he has the record for most assists in a season by a LW, but even that season he played on the second line... which... *does some math*... is one of the two lines that make up the middle six.)
He wasn’t a middle six guy. They spread the offense around, and didn’t stack one line. I guess Malkin has been a middle six guy his whole career because he didn’t play on the 1st line?

All the talk about Huberdeau aside, I have to say I really don't mind the Kadri deal that much. He was lights out for the first quarter of last season before he shutdown on Sutter (and became admittedly hard to watch for a large chunk of the season), but he's back on fire again this year and is legitimately making something happen almost every time he's on the ice.

Will he decline before the halfway point of his contract? Most likely, but by that time $7M will be today's $4M so it won't be as painful.

Plus I feel like he's a good energy to have around the young guys. I love what Millen said tonight about Kadri and McKinnon ruthlessly pushing each other to be better on the ice while being best friends off it.

Kadri is the most relatable guy on the team. I probably would've quit on Sutter too

^^I disagree Scorp, anyone who quits on a team like he did last year has no compete and shows they aren’t a leader of any dressing room. I still remember the guy bobbing his head like an idiot on the bench knowing sutter was staring him down after he made a brutal giveaway against Chicago last year which sealed the deal for the Flames making the playoffs. I wish we got rid of him in the off-season along with a number of other Flames.

I don't know, I'd have preferred he keep a Tyler Toffoli work ethic through it since he's being paid 7 million to go out and perform on the ice, no matter how the coach is ####ing himself with poor conduct.

The gen-z was showing a little with that comment. If someone's mean or crosses a line, you don't just quiet-quit (?) on your responsibilities in an attempt to cancel said person. You're still beholden to your job.

Huberdeau should defer 97% of his salary. I still don't understand how the MLB will let a team defer 680 million in salary but apparently it's legal. Seems shady AF to me

Another shameful non-performance by Huberdeau.

No. In fact I specifically used Malkin as an example of a top six guy. A player who can be used on and off the top line as needed, and would normally be a top line player, but plays behind a better player.

Guys just out there doing cardio.
Surely the basis of a lawsuit against Treliving for gross negligence.

It's also not 1950 anymore where you can be a complete ####### to your employees either.people will just stop working for you. This day and age there has to be a mutual respect between bosses and employees.

Come on, this team almost won! If you can hang in there with a team like the avs, you can beat anyone. They just need to find a spark, maybe give up a pick for a guy like Duclair, trade for another elite winger, and do whatever you can to keep this team together. They aren't going to rebuild, so re-sign everyone you can and keep going.

Andersson and Hanifin both seemed to have a rough night defensively.

On the plus side, Kadri is looking rejuvenated this season.

I mean you are just wrong about Huberdeau. He wasn’t a middle six guy in Florida. Until he was traded to the Flames he was getting more primary assists and wasn’t relying on a stacked power play to get the majority of his points. He was basically a ppg guy until his first season here. Jeff Skinner might be who you are thinking of.
Which honestly makes his drop off even more confusing and impressive. I don’t think there has even been such a drop off in the cap era.
