I didn't originally think we really had a chance, but the last few days have me thinking we are the favorites. So now instead of just shrugging it off he signs elsewhere I'm going to be one disappointed dude.

I don’t think Toronto gets too creepy with celebrities or anything but what I don’t get is how he can’t be private in LA? You have athletes and singers and actors all over. Ohtani is lost in that sea of people. Toronto he’s much more high profile. Just my musings.

He's a huge star wherever he is.
In LA you have people who go to LA just to spot these people and hunt for the celebrities...especially Japanese tourists and tourists from other parts of Asia. No chance he could just go walk down the street in LA, even in the fancier areas.
And really here's the thing he's spent what the last 6 years in LA and maybe he is just ready for something different.
The contract is going to have player opt out options for sure, he can go to Toronto for a couple years, if he doesn't like it he can opt out and go to the Dodgers then.

Man, I don’t wanna get excited just yet. As a Canadian sports fan the rationale side of my brain is saying this once in a lifetime player is not coming to Canada. But if he does, wow, what a coup it would be to steal him from LA
