That Yamamoto report is nuts. Part of entertainment is you have to think there’s something more. To get both would be crazy but where do you go from there? I’m guessing if they somehow get both, Barrios is gone to trade from an infielder. Would make a lot of sense as depth is an issue even if those acquisitions were to happen.
Anyway, my guess was the news would come by tonight. I’d say tomorrow by 9pm.
Might as well go out and get KBO star Jung Hoo Lee too.
We need an outfielder.
Bring back Chappy too.
No sense Efffing around.
Go absolutely 110% all in for a year, and then next off season unload Vladdy and Bo for a freaking haul, plus move a pitcher or two for even more of a haul.

Ohtani and Yamaoto played together one season in Japan on the same team.
Does Ohtani float the idea to teams like Toronto that he would take a discount per season to be able to play with Yamamoto? Especially if they are both moving countries (to Canada)? Again, Ohtanhi isn't about the money or the fame...it's winning and being comfortable so he can be the best player he can be. Him being able to show a countryman the ropes of North America and play with, would make him comfortable and give the team a better chance to win, and Yamamoto would play even better if he was comfortable off the field with a mentor. Sure, I'll go with that theory on this wild ride.
The old system of posting for foreign players (free agents) is gone, right?

I like it.
Keirmeier was saying he wanted to stay out in the AL east but wanted to play on grass. Maybe he signs in Boston with Verdugo gone, but Yanks are out and the O's don't have space for him.
But maybe him and Chapman can return and each sign one year deals, not lose much value for next offseason, to stay on the most talked about team in baseball with Ohtani and Yamamoto.
Toronto would get a regular spot on US TV, enhancing the reputation and value of all Jays players to be seen across the US in something other than highlight clips.

It'd probably be a NY Mets style $300 million payroll for a year, but boy would it be fun.
But like I said, they could likely sell off a few pieces next off season, retool/reload the cupboards and still have one hell of a team going forward.
The NHL deal was not good for Sportsnet, $500M year. But they could invest some of that into the Jays roster and try to keep up subscriptions that way.
I also doubt the NHL will go to a single broadcast partner next time anyways (splitting up rights is how you make the most money), so they probably can still spend $200M per year on some NHL rights, $100M per year on extra money on the Jays roster, and really still save $200M and probably have better overall content since baseball covers the summer months which actually tend to be the months that are harder to keep people subscribed.
There’s just so much smoke online about Ohtani leaning towards the Jays. Unsure if any of the sources are reliable but no doubt about it I am ready to have my dreams crushed!
It is intriguing. On one hand only a few days ago I was saying there’s no chance the reports are real. If he signed it back then I’d have been shocked. Now that guys are saying they have the best chance and you see a few deals here and there, I’d be crushed if he doesn’t. I really hope he makes a decision soon or secretly tells the Jays so the Jays can make other moves behind the scenes, effectively handcuffing his second choice teams.
That guy is annoying AF. He also is reporting something from the DailyMail a junky tabloid from the UK and refers to it as coming from the Globe and Mail - a respected Canadian newspaper.
This is terrible... I prepared myself so much for inevitable disappointment by prepping with pessimism but somehow I'm still jumping at every notification buzz on my phone for Ohtani news.
C'mon... do it Rogers/Ohtani. Do it please.
