After reading that ranking article, it looks like Bally Sports is giving Sportsnet a run for their money.

https://torontosun.com/sports/baseba...-drop-nhl-deal

The wildly expensive pursuit of Shohei Ohtani is corporately planned by Rogers to coincide with the end of its 12-year, money-hemorrhaging deal with the National Hockey League.

The $5.2 billion NHL deal, which will cost Rogers in the $500 million a year range for each of the next two hockey seasons — a deal that escalated hugely over its final years — will expire at the end of the 2026 hockey season.

One negotiation may not be happening necessarily without the other expiring, veterans in the television business industry tell the Toronto Sun.

Getting Ohtani combined with no more NHL on Sportsnet would be such a good thing for Canada

If only CBC would expand it's hockey coverage...

HNC games are just on another level.

It's weird when you think of it, Rogers produces the shows but they can't maintain anywhere near the same level of quality for almost any of thier other games.

SNet regional games for Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and half of the Leafs, are separate from the national agreement Simmons is talking about Snet not rebidding on and focusing on the Jays.

I can't see how the next Canadian deal isn't the same as the recent US deal, and be shared rights with Bell and Rogers.

Rogers is not going to go back to purely regional rights, but they also are not going to blow their load like they did last time to have exclusivity. I think Bell will be the one to have the most value in the new deal; exclusive rights for Saturday's/HNIC, majority (or all) of out of market game rights/steaming. But Rogers would likely fork over enough dough to have the Stanley Cup Final alternate between the two networks annually.

I don't want them to have any of it. Let Bell have it all, TSN'a production is light years better.

Telus launching their own network would end this crazy "Telus Flames hockey on Rogers Sportsnet". Let the Oilers and Canucks have Rogers.

What's next, "WestJet Flames hockey brought to you by Air Canada"?

The post you quoted is something that Millions said on air, when he didn't know he was on air

Does anyone know what Millions is up to nowadays? He left Sportsnet to try his hand at politics, then bombed out at that, not even getting the nomination for the riding he was trying for, then he disappeared.

Yup.

They will split up the rights this time as that's how you maximize the profit (and how the NFL has done it forever).

You will some nights split between TSN/Bell and Sportsnet/Rogers for sure...maybe a third company too.

No idea if he still is, but he was the sports guy for Western Standard for a bit after his failed political career. lol

I like Hrudey, he's good. But I am really digging Meaghan Mikkelson lately. I think she'd do great as colour with Ball.

I believe Hrudey's intention for next year is to only do one or the other - either Flames games, or HNIC.

Personally, I think he is great on HNIC - he discusses all teams with a level and balanced approach. I would like to see him stay with HNIC, and have MM move into the Flames' spot.
