What happens if they have a skid in the next week and it undoes the ground they made up (which wasn't much)?
The season can be in peril in the blink of an eye.
You're not back in it until the standings say so. Even teams within 2-3 points of a team they're chasing can have a lot of trouble actually leapfrogging said team. Oilers have to leapfrog a whole bunch of them.
14% of teams 4 or more points out of playoffs at US thanksgiving make it, according to Friedman.
