a small gift at Christmas as a thank you for spending tons of money with a company doesn't seem to be out of line. The dude also made some good commission off us.

It's not required I know, but would have been nice. heck, you could even look at it as an apology for all the times they screwed up on a product, or were late with deliveries.

I spent about $350,000 with your company this year that I could have spent with your competitors. That doesn't rate even a box of chocolates?
I couldn't accept a gift valued at greater than $20 back in the day.

That's the thing...plenty of industries and companies have rules about what can be given/accepted and rules around the types of gifts you can accept as well. It's not just a free for all where people can accept things they like. Depending on the industry, these things are serious and can cost you your job.

For us we can't accept for personal use anything over $10, but that's cool as I just pass on gifts to management and they distribute them at the christmas party.

Not a gear grinder but I found it funny while shopping for a fake Christmas tree that I could get one for $49.99 at Home Depot and pay it off over 24 months. (Yes, it’s store wide.)

I was once gifted a trip to Europe by SAP. I should've given it to management.

well they made a profit from our purchases. several hundred thousand dollars of spend that didn't have to go to them. the rep made about 3.5% of that.
Items that any number of other vendors could have sold us for around the same cost.
my place of work is non profit we just try and cover costs.

I don't think it's unreasonable to have hoped to receive even a $5 shrinkflation pot of gold as a thank you for that business.

If someone gave me a Pot of Gold as a thank you, I'd wonder what I did to deserve their ire.

Also, I have no idea where that person got a 12 piece Pot of Gold. They're 24 piece everywhere here.

Like does anybody on CP actually shop for food, take CT, know how bylaws work?

Get out more, stop going on ####ing Twitter.

I worked with a guy that did this all the time online. He always used those weird monthly payment options for standard, entertainment type purchases in the $100-$300 range. And talked it up like it was so awesome and easy.

I just got airpods on this site but instead of paying $300 I just pay $25 a month! I was like "how many of these purchases do you currently have a monthly payment on?!". "Well, uh yeah it's a lot, I think I'm up to $200 a month".

Is this bad? I feel like it’s bad.

When I click on the ongoing celebrity death expecting someone good, only to see it’s no one I care about. Waste of a click.

I'm in my busiest time of the year at work, it's crazy right now. I can't go in all tired and function at the level I need to right now. Plus I live in the Beltline, it's like a 20 minute Uber, that can't cost that much. He's the extended family overachiever with no kids, where's all that money at, bud?

I just don't get that stuff...
Update: I told him I can pick him up, but need to go straight to bed when we get back home. He's mad about that, thought we'd go for beers and a bite after. WTF

He gets in at almost 11 PM on a freakin Tuesday night, I'm a 42 year old 9-5er and in the middle of peak season. Why would I go for midnight beers with him?? I think that's pretty cool I even said I'd grab him instead of making him take an Uber. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills...

He's in the restaurant industry, think he forgets what the 9-5 thing is like, he on those vampire hours. Still though, c'mon man.

It’s feels like especially a waste when it’s not just someone you don’t care about, but someone nobody could possibly care about. Sometimes it feels like a bit that I don’t get.

“Richard Gortus dead at 95 today. Great character actor, starred in a single episode of Star Trek and did a few commercials in the 50s.”

“Wow, can’t believe he was 95. This one hurts.”

It's my cousin I was super tight with growing up, and until picking him up at the airport on the previous trip 2 weeks ago, I hadn't seen him in 4 years - he lives in Paris now. Just here dealing with Visa renewal stuff so he can go back. I'm just backing tight family I don't get to see much.

Plus, I like to travel too, and want to stay at his place in Paris. Gotta keep up my end of the bargain when he's here too haha. But he's really pushing those limits..

Those are the types of celebrities I started the thread for. I excepted popular people to continue to get their own thread but nobody does that any more.

And I didn’t know Gorty died.

It’s rare I genuinely laugh “out loud” at something on CP but for some reason those responses got to me. Thanks boys.
