I still like Family Guy better. You can't deny the success of the Simpsons though, I have a lot of great memories growing up watching it. Although I do prefer the late 90's/early 2000's to the recent episodes.

I think my favourite of the cartoon series right now is Southpark. That might change once Futurama is back though, you just can't beat Zoidberg.

Actually it's one of the shows that I will actually watch as a television hater myself. (I understand why one would not be a fan though)

There is no argument that they have had their bad episodes, even bad seasons. But there aren't many shows that have been as consistant as the Simpsons, or more importantly, kept up with the times and humour as the Simpsons.

Sure its was more edgy and groundbreaking when it came out. But it's aged very well.

Longest running cartoon ever, about to be longest running sit-com ever. And besides Coronation Street, one of the longest fictional programs ever.

Quite an accomplishment. Good on em. Like em or tired of them. They are a huge part of not only pop-culture, but society. I remember sitting back one day long ago after hearing Ian White on CFCN say "D'oh" to a weather report I think. That was probably ten years ago and they were part of our culture back then.

Again, had it's down points, big ones even, but easily one of the best television shows ever.

Hmmm I dunno Hitchhikers Guide (the book and books obviously, not the monstrosity of the film) has some of the same off the wall bizzare humour as some of the episodes.

As a question Ford... Do you enjoy Family Guy? Maybe Aqua Teen Hunger Force? What would be your preferred show? Trying to gauge the zany style of Douglas Adams fans. (I did enjoy the books)

Okay, I'll play along. Actually, I don't like a lot of television programming. I find most of it moronic. There have been a few shows over the years that stand out though, starting with Laugh-In. There have been a handful of sitcoms over the years that I liked ... Mork & Mindy, MASH, All In Family. Nothing recent though. Thankfully it looks like sitcoms are dead. They've pretty much degenerated to complete garbage. Probably my favourite show of all time was The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr. I've liked a lot of sci-fi and fantasy shows over the years ... even pulpy stuff like Quantum Leap. Battlestar Galactica and the early X-Files are probably my favourites of this genre. I've liked a few British comedy shows ... The Goodies and Fawlty Towers the most. Currently, the show I probably like the most is Numbers. Overall though, there have been very few TV shows that I like enough to actually make a point of watching every week. Briscoe County was probably the last one I watched religiously, except for Flames hockey. I watched every Flames game last winter except for when I was in Mexico at Christmas.

As for Family Guy, no, I don't watch it. And I don't have a clue what the Aqua Team show is even ... never heard of it. It's an animated program I assume? The only animated shows I've liked have been kids shows. I thought Chilly Beach was excellent. Johnny Bravo was pretty funny too.

And yes, I'm a fan of the Hitchhiker books. The movie sucked rocks. Big, boulder sized rocks.

Family Guy is funny, but it's gotten soooo formulaic. Futurama though... on par with Simpsons IMO (which I suppose is not surprising since it's still Matt Groening).

^^^ Hey I agree I liked Simpsons, Seinfeld, and recently I like Daily Show and Colbert Report. I hate most TV

Was just wondering what the Douglas Adams fun DOES find funny. Anything on TV at all, or get it from elsewhere?

Wasn't trying to make it a game, asking an honest question cause I was curious.

I was just being flippant with the "I'll play along" remark. Sorry, didn't mean to come across wrong. I was just trying to answer your curiosity. And I agree with you about Daily and Colbert. They are seriously funny ... I should have mentioned them but forgot.
