I see quite a few people in the political threads that never post in the hockey thread, unless the thread is political. And even then, it's only because someone said something they disagree with. Kinda like Facebook.

"Just asking questions" is a tired right-wing tactic that most reasonable people can see right through. He was always trying to tell you who he really was without actually saying it out loud. Kind of like Mom's for Liberty. They're about on the same level of projection and incredulity.

I tried to have a discussion with Yoho through DM. Other than a statement from him that didn't make sense, he refused to explain further what he meant or answer any further questions I threw his way. It was clear from his DM posts that he knew nothing of the subject at hand. That's why I think he posted what he did to get a rise out of people on this forum.

Others will disagree but I don't think Yoho's posting of conspiracy theories, Qanon BS, tweets without context, etc was ban worthy.

Some said to ignore him, but again, I've always said that responding and disproving wasn't to feed the troll, or change his mind but to ensure others didn't fall into the same trap. Again, not ban worthy.

Then I saw Yoho was banned. So I clicked their profile, checked out recent posts to see why they were banned.

Yikes.

There's being brainwashed in the Qanon cult, there's trolling, then there's the personal attacks on other posters that crossed not only the line, but several lines.

1000% ban worthy.

While there was lots of criticism of the mods regarding Yoho, to the mods: you handled them exactly how I would have.

Kudos.

Being consistent and impartial can be difficult and I think you all did a great job.

truthfully, I found him a useful foil at times to clarify my own thoughts, but at they end of the day he didn't listen or learn when the things he said were thoroughly debunked, so there was little value in conversing with him.

There was no value in conversing with Yoho. What he was, was 'Training Wheels for Critical Thinking.'

I didnt get why people got so upset with Yoho or with the mods for not banning him. I mean, that guy's motivation was so goddamned obvious it was laughable. He was harmless.

What I did was I went on Amazon and I got this amazing new invention! I think they call it a mouse? And its got this amaze-balls new gadget! Its a little wheel and you spin it a little and you just wheeeee.....right past Yoho's posts.

Yoho posting things about other posters is no good, especially the piece about the Ukraine war and the other poster who wanted to fight.

I will respectfully push back on the notion he was just flooding the forums with propaganda etc. I didn't interact with him too often and I can't say anything really bothered me personally but I could see how he would stir the pot to get under people's skin. Plenty of posters might also do that and some may think I do as well.

He posted plenty of articles and posts from the other side of the debate, whatever debate was happening and opposite side of whoever's beliefs are. A lot was also posts form mainstream media and articles that pointed out truths, facts and some opinion.

He stirred the pot and I enjoyed looking at some of the banter. Frankly we all need to learn to live in the world and try and get along. The guy was a classic homer for his side. It's an internet forum at the end of the day, not like he is blasting anybody from inside their house.

That, and also posters who always try and take the diplomatic neutral approach and say "I'm never bothered, I rise above it, you should too".

And the clowns baying for his blood are the clowns baying for his blood who cant fathom the concept of looking at an idea, weighing it on its merits and determining for themselves whether to consider them or not.

I had Yoho on ignore for a long time but he was quoted so often it didn't really matter.

I don't agree with your characterization of 'baying for his blood' because of his 'ideas'. Yoho didn't share ideas.
