My argument is pretty clear:
Save % always matters, especially over longer periods of time. On nights when Markstrom’s save % is low we will struggle to win. When he lets in early goals it is terrible for the team in every way.
If we had an exceptional goaltender, a bad start % wise or even a bad night would not matter nearly as much.
With Markstrom its become the expectation that he will not deliver a league average save % so when 2 of 5 go in there is a terrible chance of a) him saving the next 18 shots, and b) we know it is very likely a third and likely a fourth goal is coming.
