The streak continues - another fun game. Win was a bonus.
Huberdeau is starting to look like a good player. The first 10 games he wasn't connecting on even the simple 5ft passes - kept going into skates or just too far away. Now he is starting to make plays. Hopefully this confidence builds like a boulder rolling downhill to the point that he becomes a star player again. He is easy to cheer for because he seemed to always be trying. I am really looking forward to seeing what he looks like in the next 10 games. I did see him do a spin-o-rama pass blindly to a Kraken, but I wasn't even mad. He connected on a bunch of others. The first 10 games he was the second coming of Neal - points be damned. He was a black-hole on every single linemate I thought, and the worst player that I have seen since Neal. What a difference confidence makes.
Entertaining hockey is entertaining! Win or lose, that's what I want.

yeah he totally wasn't an over 30 pending UFA that asked for a trade or a long term deal

Just had a ball tonight with my son. I've brought him to CGY for two games in the past and we were shut out in both; he was starting to wonder if he was cursed. So was I, actually...
Favorite things that stood out:
Vladar let in a couple of stinkers but he made more than a few outstanding saves on what appeared to be pretty high danger chances. The one midway through the third made most of the Seattleites around me ooh and ahh.
Pospisil on the PP - just happy to see a coach that wants to give aggressive players an opportunity.
Defense in overtime was OUTSTANDING. Every time it looked like Seattle would get an opening with their speed, our defense looked sound.
Loved the greasy Mangiapane goal. I was a big fan of trading him after his big season since I couldn't imagine his stock rising any higher, but one thing I love about him is willingness to go to the dirty areas.
Huby looks comfortable. I don't want to get my hopes up on him yet but that at least is encouraging.
Overall just fun for my boy to get his first win in person as a Flames fan. This isn't always an easy franchise to love. But lots of joy tonight.

It's really nice to see Huberdeau enjoying himself lately. I have hated on his play and the results, but really want to see him succeed. The positive vibes lately have to be good for everyone, so I hope he maintains it. I don't think it was easy on his peers to see him suffering.
One of the funny things with Huberdeau, is that he has a really good shot, but has always preferred to pass and set up plays. He scored a really nice goal the other night, and while the goal tonight wasn't highlight reel quality, it is still something to thread the puck through traffic and get it clearly on net. It would be pretty cool if Huberdeau reinvented himself as a more of a shooter and goal scorer. The Flames also have guys that bang in garbage goals if a player can get the puck through like that.

The Flames have played some entertaining games recently. I enjoyed this one again tonight. Horrible second but showed a lot of character in the third to come back and get the W.

When he's playing well he's an excellent 2 way centre. His defensive play goes unnoticed a lot I think, but he's elite at it when he wants to be.

A lot of his passes have that same quality. I think he likes to thread the needle through traffic to a teammate who can then take the goalie by surprise. Trouble is, since he's been here he has been taking his teammates by surprise and those passes are wasted. Threading the needle through traffic to the net is the next best thing.
If I had a word of cheap advice for Huberdeau's linemates it would be this: ‘The puck may appear on your stick at any moment. Be prepared.’

He's an interesting goalie in that you can grill him for a bad period then eat crow the next. Resilient guy, and that's why he should have value to teams looking for a #2

Since hockey is a 60 minute game, he’ll be judged on the whole game.
His expected goals against was 2.42.
He was -4.9 coming in.
He did outplay his counterpart, but it wasn’t a good night for goaltending.
Since Calgary is solidly in the playoff race, are they still selling?

Great to see another come from behind evening. Really liking our 3rds this season for the most part. If 3 lines can roll, each with a star player we could be tough to match up against.

“I think i understand why we got favourable reffing calls in the BoA playoffs. Bettman wanted that to be our “Cup” so he gave us that. Satiate the fanbase with Flames blood, now he can work on getting McDrai out of here and gut this franchise for good.”
LOL - even they admit what happened.

Interesting game, thought the Flames were in trouble in OT, As Krahen had the puck, seemed like all of the time
Looked like Zary was benched and Dube took his spot when the shorten the lines in the 3rd

Opportunity cost wasted.

When it comes to goalies I think win or lose they want to get Wolf in st some point.
The thing that I keep coming back to is Conroy saying he won’t let guys walk for nothing. I do have slight concerns that Hanifin or Lindholm might be guys they circle back to on extensions but hopefully all parties agree that it is time to part ways. I don’t think we see a tankbuild but I do think there will be a shift to get younger with a much different looking roster. I feel fairly confident the 4 UFA’s and maybe a goalie are dealt this year.

After the the 3rd Kraken goal Markstrom had what looked to be a pretty intense conversation with Vladar. Wonder what he said.
