Of the last half-dozen or so coaches the Oilers have had, this guy has to be the least qualified, no? Probably not the right guy for "...the time is now to try and win."
Either McDavid is lying or the Oilers effed up and thought it would make him happy when instead it makes him look like he's running the franchise and hurts his rep.
Well, "consulted" is a bit of a weasel word TBF. They could have discussed coaching with McDavid at some point without specifically asking"should we fire Woody" or "Should we hire your minor league coach".
It was interesting listening to Marek and Friedmann discuss the coaching change today:
Elliotte says that Jeff Jackson has been a huge fan of Knoblauch's for a long time, going back to well before his days as Oilers president. He sees this clearly as Jackson's choice.
He also had some thoughts on how Holland plays into this: Friedmann believes that this was always going to be Holland's last year, but that this is a clear sign he will not be back.

Or.. or, stating truth. Because it's amusing when rival fans who claim to "just like the community and chat hockey" scatter as soon as they lose their bragging rights here.
I think your clear attempts to manufacture a "gotcha" moment is probably more sad, Canucks fan guy living on a Flames board.

I dunno, Oil Stain is pretty good people and, despite having absolutely wretched taste in hockey clubs, is always game for discussion.
Like Blaster, he’s definitely outside the category of “rival fan troll” and is just a generally good poster.
If you were to, say… make a wall of shame or something… including the worst of the rival fans, I wouldn’t go and put either of those guys on it.
Hell, that Jordan guy is worse but people just make fun of him because he likes the Coyotes.

I don't have to manufacture anything. You do this sad #### all on your own. Find a hobby that doesn't include worrying about what other people do with their free time.

Let Holland go out with a bang and trade futures to fix this mess. Also give Brown one more game please.
'Hey Conner I've been looking at the tape and I want to cut back the time the 1st line is out on the PP, get the second line involved a bit more'
'look coach that's nice and all but we both know I'm the only reason you are here, I'll play as long as I effing well want and if you dont like it we can easily get another coach, we clear?'

Great quote about Ken Holland at around 13:35 to 14:05.

Ken Holland is the most overrated GM ever and he's just proving it over and over again.
Unlimited resources in Detroit for everything you could possibly ask for. As soon as the cap came into play he built a terrible team and left crap to clean up.

Yeah, of what I've seen of his posts he's an alright dude. To stroll through E=NG and debate people in a civil manner as he does in the midst of all the stone throwing takes a restraint most in that fanbase don't have.
But his talk of an improved Oilers team around captain skate time was far off and I'm a little disappointed he hasn't come by to take his lumps on that one. Oh well.
At this point all we have as fans of a bad team is to beat up on the fans of the worse team.
For how much we're milking these petty small victories, and how much the team is opening itself up to criticism with this move I probably wouldn't want to be around here either if I was an Oiler fan.
