The exact same thing would have been said about Huberdeau 3 years ago minus the skating, full stop.

Yeah people here were claiming Bennett’s success after the trade was all Huberdeau’s. He was the superstar that could turn everything into gold

I feel for Conroy because he’s under a lot of pressure. This is such a mess for a first time rookie GM to navigate. The team is lifeless and is comprised of such an un-likeable cast of characters. Other GM’s know that the Flames are being forced into a difficult situation with players wanting out. It’s good that he has a strong supporting group with Maloney and Nonnis to help guide him as he needs to get this right. Nobody expects the Flames to contend anytime soon but the value you get back along with picks is going to define this franchise for an extended period of time.

Yeah, Huberdeau was a superstar that year
Not sure what happened to him now
It’s crazy in such a short time
I don’t remember anything like this before

Fact of the matter is this low danger perimeter garbage is players not wanting to go to the difficult areas on the ice.

They probably do not know the system yet. Over time they will get more experienced with the system.
Not sure if serious about Coleman and Mangiapane but they are on a red hot 23 and 24 goal pace respectively.

The Flames would have been about 3.5 million above the cap if they kept Toffoli, not sure how that would have worked.

He is making $3.5 million more than Sharangovich?

Sharangovic makes 3.1mln and Toffolli makes 4.25. So they saved $1.15mln there, so your math is not correct.
It was not a cap issue for this season.

It’s obvious some of them don’t want to be Flames anymore. The current core players have not clicked after 90+ games together now. The roster simply isn’t good enough
|
The roster definitely isn’t good enough but it’s disappointing to see a lack of pride from the players. Some of these guys are completely checked out and just want out. Honestly if they don’t care then I can see why fans don’t. This is such a terrible iteration of a team and a very dark timeline for the franchise. Let’s hope the sell off begins soon so we can start earning back some respectability. Truly pathetic what we are seeing from some of these guys.

That's fair. But Sharangovic and a third isn't exactly a haul for him. I think there was more upside than downside in waiting.

I think that Suniev was taken with that pick? Sharangovich and Suniev seems more than fair for a UFA. Could they get more at this point? Debatable. Could they get less? Absolutely.

It's been said that the market was pretty tight. We did ok in the deal.
Would you rather have a disgruntled Toffoli on the team? He was clearly upset and asked for a trade right away.

It would be the same roster as last year, minus the two old guys that everyone wanted gone, Lewis and Lucic.
I guess at least we figured out who wasn't the problem.

Regardless on how we might disagree on some things in this group I think we are all in agreement it is time to sell and go with a youth movement. As the trades eventually get made it will bring some excitement back because the play in the ice certainly doesn't. Imo we have the best fans in hockey, we are here year after year standing by our team, good or bad (ok, mostly bad). Cheers to all of you.

I watch the games only to see the youth, so I agree.
Zary, Pospisil, and Wolf were the reason I watched today.
