It's been said all over, but that Zary / Kadri / Sharangovich line is a godsend. Zary is the straw that stirs the drink, but Sharangovich and Kadri are getting in the right places. And you can easily tell who the veteran in that trio is because Kadri really gets things going and gets to the right places. It gives me hope that Huberdeau just needs to get the right teammates going. Perhaps it's best he and Lindholm, our two best forwards who are struggling, should be split up.

Zary - Kadri - Sharangovich
Pospisil - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Huberdeau - Backlund - Coleman
Dube - Ruzicka - Duehr

Is what I'd like to see. Can switch Dube to center and put Ruzicka with Lindholm and Mangiapane but I think Pospisil is doing well right now. May as well ride it.

I think we as fans need to be patient. Some were freaking out over the Toffoli trade a week ago when he was the star of the week, yet Sharangovich has shown up and has been playing some great hockey. Perhaps a larger sample size is always needed (like any statistics experiment). Huberdeau's sample size is large enough. He just needs to do a complete reset. Not saying it will happen, but a game in the press box could definitely help his POV of the ice and familiarize the tendencies of his teammates.

The results look promising so far!
Especially when you add Poirier to the organization for moving down (and Boltmann)

I thought Ruzicka was lucky to survive the 3 skater purge for the third period. He was a complete mess for 95% of his time on the ice.

First game back so you cut him some slack, but he can't be a center unless he really gets into the x and o's. All over the place.

It has been mentioned, but it is no different from the east for the cutoff line right now. I think calling it after 10 games may have been to early (except for SJ). Teams in the first 10-15 games are still trying to get a sense and find their direction. I think for the Flames, the key is to win multiple games in a row. Once they start doing that frequently, then maybe there is something there.

It was a respectful and token explanation but it sure wasn’t a brutally honest one.

Doesn’t need to be. The time for honesty with a player is in private meetings.

Early on looks like a good move. Zary has been impressive so far. There isnt much that excites me between 19-24 as long as Schneiders career doesn’t >>> Zarys no one can argue this. The picks at 26 and 28 look great too however Nieghbors and Greig and those guys are a birth year younger and have played more NHL already. Interested to see how it plays out.

Agreed. Huska showing that he is in Huberdeau's corner and supportive of him is a better approach than the old-school approach, IMO. Presumably, Huska will be having discussions with Huberdeau about how he can be better. The old-school way is reducing ice time and leaving it up to the player to figure it out on their own.

Didn't see the game, but the rave reviews for the prospects and their use so far vindicates them from Sutter trashing them last season and not playing them, or have them hang around like idiots for 20 games to learn to be a pro.

Great to see Huska put a guy like Zary in a top 6 situation and not get 6 minutes on the 4th line.

Huska may not the best hire but confirms the team made the best move with the changes.

Agreed, but I think that post was in response to the initial post that called it "brutally honest."

I don't agree with lines. Popsil showing chemistry with Backlund and Coleman as well. Keep that line intact. Same with Kadri line.

Huberdeau - Lindholm and magipane

Top players need to produce

lol. If the ATL only consisted of Oiler fan comments that would be satisfying enough.

Lets get real here. When Backlund moves on Zadorov is our next captain. Throw that into contract talks and extend him for another 5 years.

I understand why Zadorov is a favourite, and this waa a solid win so I don't want to dwell on negatives but...it seems like the Flames get scored on every game by a guy in front of the net with Zadorov standing there obliviously taking neither his man nor trying up his stick. Happened again last night.

Zadorov is our best player.

Zary is a real player, you can tell he's got a high hockey IQ.

Agree with the poster who thought Andersson was awful. The toe drags in prime shooting spots that lead to the shots being deflected out of play or wide was getting really frustrating last night.

At this point what can you say about Huberdeau? The guy can't even make a simple pass. Maybe he needs to Aaron Rodgers South America herbal treatment.

Credit to Hanifin as well. I'm not a fan of his at all but he played well last night. Was really skating well last night.

Lindholm is also right on the heels of Huberdeau as most invisible. The guy needs to wake up as well.
