It is funny that when the Oilers hired Chiarelli most Flames fans k ew and hoped he would make massive bungles like he did in Boston. Outside of fleecing Burke on Kessel and signing Chara he made many questionable trades. Fast forward to Edmonton and the Hall for Larson and Barzal++for Reinhart deals in addition to Lucic, Sekera and other bad contracts signed. His only saving grace was getting McDrai on 8 year deals and that can’t be ignored as those were great moves.

Fast forward to Ken Holland and the fans were equally concerned with his recent track record. Ken was not afraid of term going after Markstrom and Hyman with max term offers. He couldn’t land Marky and went with Smith for several years and shifted to Campbell on a 5x5 when no other teams were offering that much and now he is on waivers less than halfway into that deal. Holland has been everything we could ask for in terms of wasting years of the primes of 2 of the leagues best players.

To see Edmonton fail to get to the playoffs in McDavid’d age 26-27 season would be a thing of beauty. Absolute Cinema

Sounds like a possible trade post-waivers where the Oilers eat a big portion of the salary.

That is, if they've found a taker for Campbell.

The funniest part is when they keep the tag #LetsGoOilers in there after waiving their #1 goalie

It doesn't clear cap unless someone picks him up right? Slight amount if they send him down and bring up captain Pickard

Okay, I don't actually want this to happen because the Oilers should be stuck with his cap hit... but imagine SJS claims Campbell, starts him Thursday, and he shuts the Oilers out.

It would just be so beautiful.

Mentioned in the OOT thread last night that they'd waive a goalie today
Time to rush a new prospect in and ruin him for good. They haven't done something like that since way back to Holloway

lol I am not on board with your Brown conspiracy but on this one I'd have to agree. Coyotes would be the only one broke enough to do it.

I can't see anyone picking up Campbell at full freight. As Reggie intimated, more likely he's traded with some retention along with a pick* to a team willing to keep him down in the minors once he clears.

*oh please be this year's 1st
