Why is it a stretch. The Oilers will be rested for the Thursday night game, having not played since Monday. The Sharks have to play the Flyers the night before they play the Oilers. By every measure that is an advantage for the Oilers. But go ahead and keep arguing with me about it. Whatever turns your crank.

We're once again at the same apex we've seen year after year.
Oilers trying to win by high offence gameplay on the back of 2 players, meanwhile they have 0 highly skilled guys on the backend who care enough to put the team first.
I'm so happy Edmonton saddled themselves with that Nurse contract, its even better than when they traded for Griffin Reinhardt.
You'd think that just one of their 1st O/A picks they would have used to draft and develop a D man but hey, at least Connor and Dr.Drai will carry them 5 years in a row.

We all forget about Wednesday. We really should just skip it.

Just checked the standings as of Nov 7th last year...
There were NO teams with a record as bad as the Oilers are currently (though CBJ was close), and NONE of the bottom 10 teams, as of this date, made the playoffs. No team under .500 on Nov 7th made the dance.
The Oilers aren't a basement team, and won't finish 31st overall, but their troubles are real, and those that think they have just been unlucky, and need a spark to get going and they'll be fine, are deluding themselves. The Oilers have below average team defense, below average depth, and below average goaltending - those things aren't going to just fix themselves, once the Oilers start potting a few more goals.
I predicted somewhere (not sure if here) that the Oilers were probably a wild card team, in a deep Pacific division. Now, just 11 games in, a wild card spot is really all they can hope for.

I just listened to him on Vancouver radio, he was crapping all over the Oilers. Pretty sure it was tongue in cheek.

I just watched the highlights from the Mighty Oiler loss and was wondering if McDavid will be getting a call from Department of Player Safety. In the third period he had 2 direct crosschecks to players heads, one against JT Miller (no penalty of course) and one to Pius Suter (when him and Pissy got misconducts).
I know they weren't laying on the ice like Mangiapane case but these were both direct head shots.

McDavid getting any disciplinary action is like mixing oil with water.

No chance of that happening.
And ironically, it would be doing him and the Oilers a favour if they did. Giving him a one or two game suspension would give him some time off to get a little healthier, a luxury the Oilers can't afford to give him on their own.

It's not that the flames and Oilers both suck. It's that the Oilers keep falling ass- backwards into 1st overall draft picks and the greatest players in the league, and still suck. The Calgary flames have literally had zero 1st overall picks, and nothing in the top 3, and yet are still a couple points ahead of them.

Watching the meltdown live last night was perfect. The Oilers looked dominant in the first before the Canucks woke up, but by the 3rd Vancouver was passing like Harlem Globetrotters leading to all the oil frustration. Seeing McDavid goon it up is the best illustration of the despair.

McDavid has been fined and suspended before. As an egregious repeat offender, the league will be transferring Ottawa's 2024 2nd round pick to the Oilers.
