I have him as my backup to J. Allen but Stroud is looking more and more legit as the weeks go by. Good for them, he’s a likeable QB.

Yeah, this Texans team is pretty hard to cheer against. They're scrappy and likeable. Nice to see after the stench of the BoB years.

I'll never understand how this clown got a second HC gig.

https://dailysnark.com/2023/11/05/jo...-team-meeting/

Quote:
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, during the team meeting where players were able to discuss their issues with McDaniels’ coaching, McDaniels asked linebackers coach Antonio Pierce to speak on his behalf. Pierce said the team needs to build it’s own culture and brought up the 2007 Giants team, whom Pierce was a team caption on, and said that that team believed they could win every game. He said the Raiders needed that mindset.

That 2007 Giants team is known for beating the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, where McDaniels was the offensive coordinator. Pierce’s comments got positive responses from the players, but it was McDaniels, who took issue with it.

“Josh McDaniels then goes over to him and says, ‘Don’t ever talk about the Patriots like that,’” Glazer said. “And then you really saw how divided the building got. That got up to Mark Davis, and I think Davis looked at it ands said, ‘OK, I’m gonna choose the guy who believes we can win every single week.’”

Kind of hilarious that he asked him to speak up and he ended up taking his job after that.

I don't know how true that is as there's been a few false stories out there. McDaniels simply isn't head coach material and I get that a lot of people want to kick him when he's down but that doesn't seem like even he's dumb enough to be defending the Patriots as Raiders head coach as he's not as dumb as he is unlikeable. From all accounts Davis had been looking at firing McZiegler a few weeks prior to the player meeting and it was the result of the last loss that triggered the firings and he wanted to ensure he canned them prior to them making any moves on trade deadline day.

He canned them after the deadline was over, and after they nixed trading Devante Adams.

Also sounds like after the meeting he pretty quit on the team.

This is the second time he has caused a big disaster on a team and especially with the QB situation.

No they were canned in the afternoon. Teams called the Raiders to discuss trades and said nobody answered the phones. I'm a Raiders fan, I know what's going on with my team. That meeting stuff is just a bunch of noise just like the fortune cookie story.

The fortune cookie one would have been outstanding....

Reminds me a bit of when Gruden resigned in the fire where one week the team looked listless. Next week with him out they were much better with Bisaccia in charge.

Culturally I don't think McDaniels was a great fit for them. He doesn't embody the tough ass outcast type image that's been the calling card for the Raiders when they were successful. So trying to be Patriots West is not at all what the Raiders are or should be. I think they need to get back to that scrappy identity of players with a chip on their shoulder who think they were cast off and want tobprove they still have something. Pierce can probably motivate them well enough for the rest of this year. But I think they need to get a guy more like Flores if they want an ex-Patriot. A guy who thinks the league excluded him and wants revenge.

By the sounds of it was pretty much Josh that had to go not as much as the GM but they got punted as a package deal.

Based on the information of the insiders the Raiders operated like it was still 2000, and he did a lot to hire in the scouting, developments, drafting etc. Essentially said he was modernizing the franchise to be in 2023.

Best in the league. Goes beyond just the powder blues too, I like their royal blues as well, and REALLY like their midnight blues (but wish they paired it with an LT era midnight blue helmet).

So many choices, all elite.

Poor Jets fans, with how awesome this defense is they need an offense that can produce 17 points a week and they'd be a playoff team, 24 a week and they are Super Bowl contenders, 31 a week and they go undefeated. Instead, Zach Attack...

Giants/Cowboys is "America's Game of the Week" next week, and I honestly cant think of a better metaphor for the current state of America.

Where are you getting this information from lol. That's true if we were in the year 2012 today. Reggie McKenzie totally overhauled the scouting departments last decade to bring it up to modern standards and the poor drafting from the last regime as all on Gruden and Mayock. You can have the greatest scouts in football but if the two guys making the call are idiots nothing else matters. Ziegler didn't do anything to bring the operation forward and was fired because he was just as much a disaster as McDaniels. If you want to be a Raiders insider maybe you should learn a bit about them. Here's a good place to start as Barnwell discusses their mistakes one by one.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...legacy-rebuild

Quote:
Instead, the case for firing McDaniels and Ziegler is more comprehensive. I'm not sure a coach and general manager have ever gotten as many of their big decisions wrong over the first two years of their tenure than the now-deposed Raiders pairing. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's easy to use hindsight to correct calls, but many of the decisions they made looked foolish even in the moment. Running through them in chronological order gives us a brief history of the regime and why the pair is out in Las Vegas.
