Equalization is a red herring. Alberta doesn't pay equalization....Albertans pay taxes. Albertans paid taxes back in Lougheed's day, yet he was able to create and fund the Heritage fund. 100% it is the choices made by conservative politicians since then that kept the fund from growing, not the rate of federal taxation.

Just read the policy proposals they are debating this weekend. Truly frightening and disturbing stuff. One of them is proposing to ban trans females from female incarceration facilities. The description of it says it’s clear that there are males who transition, then get arrested just so they can rape women in prison. Brought to you by the Banff constituency association.

I remember the time when these constituency associations were filled with community leaders, well rounded individuals etc. They have been completely co-opted by a very radical view point of the world.

Also, Norway is a country, Alberta is a province within a country. The fact that Albertan's think they should benefit more than anyone else is asinine. Did certain counties within Norway demand their own larger benefit from the industry and it wasn't fair that the rest of the country benefited?

I am all for women’s rights and protection. If this is a valid part of protecting women from sexual assault, then it is what it is.

Resolution: The United Conservative Party believes that the Government of Alberta should… b) Protect inmates who were female at conception and are housed at correctional and remand centers for women operated by Alberta’s Correctional Services by refusing to house any inmate who was male at conception at said correctional and remand centers.

Rationale: It has become clear that some male predators are falsely changing their gender identity so they can be placed in a female penitentiary, where they engage in sexual predatory behaviors such as rape. Under this proposed policy, these genetically male prisoners will remain in male penitentiaries or be transferred to a facility for transsexual female inmates. The Government of Alberta has the responsibility of protecting all Albertans from harm, including those who are interned at our correctional facilities. By providing transpeople with their own facility, this will serve to protect the female inmates from the potential of sexual assaults.

Really, the whole thing is disgusting and shows a lack of priorities for the UCP. The whole thing is just fighting the "other side" whatever that may be, zero about making our lives better. I should summarize them.

It's really all a bunch of "protect Albertan's rights" by removing other peoples rights or ignoring rules/laws that have a good reason to be there.
