Yeah, visually he looks a step slower than last season, and has had some noticeable bad give aways. But this chart is a good reason why it's important to balance eye test and advanced stats. He's doing better than I and others have thought from watching.

He also has always played in man systems, not zone. I am sure that isn't helping.

One of the only trades I can see us making that any team would accept is Markstrom for Nylander.
Might have to add to get him but salaries are close enough and helps both teams, Wolf and Vladar might not be as good as current goaltending but won't be far off, while Nylander might have chemistry with Huberdeau or Kadri, only hope I see going forward to get these guys going.

Why would Toronto ever do this ?
Nylander is a skilled PPG player (with some flaws but still) and Markstrom is an inconsistent #1 goalie.
If Toronto deals Nylander you would be looking at at least Hanifin and even then I think Nylander is worth more.

Toronto is forever in search of a goalie, Markstrom has been better this year and Toronto probably can't afford to keep Nylander, hey man our options are limited, maybe not the best deal but what else can we offer?

Markstrom might get a 2nd or something. Nylander would get a similar return to Lindholm.

I think Markstrom is well on his way to rebuilding his value. With 2 years of term left if he can have a good year I think there will be a market there for him. No need to rush Wolf into the tank
|

The Nylander proposals make me smile. I mean, ignoring any valuations, the Flames acquire Nylander. They instantly re-sign him to an 8 year extension, prompting an 8 year extension for Lindholm.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Nylander for the next 8 seasons (well, 7 plus the rest of this season). Just make them a line, no matter what. I would bet that by year 5 together, we would probably start to see some chemistry forming.
