Those teams were a mirage. You just didn’t see it.
I was a believer heading into 2018-2019 as well, and then the Colorado series happened. I knew that core wasn’t going to win a championship. And they proved it again two years ago when they were manhandled by the Oilers.
Looks like you were right, that core was broken up a year ago. Just curious, how long are you going to take on this victory lap?

My worst fear is the team turns it on in the second half to make a respectable season out of this.
We need injuries and we need a bunch of them. Erase any chance that Huby, Kadri or Lindy will turn it on and win us some games. We need Ls and a top 3 pick.
Then we need a repeat next season.
Then and only then can we hope that this unmovable, untradeable core will be able to have a miracle season or two with our new young top 3/5 picks and we can make a run.
Otherwise, we’re doomed.
The problem with your plan is if Huberdeau and Kadri get injured the team will perform better. I think you want to increase their minutes and play Vladar more.
Minnesota has 15 million in dead cap and they’re still functional. Huberdeau can be a fixture in the pressbox, the Flames can play with a 10 mil cap handicap. Just keep this guy off the ice.
I almost think it’s going to come to that. At some point they are going to have to cut their losses.
At least they got to play dress-up before the game!! Huberdeau baffles me. His passes are so soft and to no one. How the hell did he ever break 100 points? Huberdeau looks like a 4th liner who doesn't even care to stay in the line-up.
Also, trade Hanifin, Lindholm, Tanev, and maybe even Zadorov (keep him if he wants to teach young guys how to care). I am usually the furthest from team blow it up, but blow this #### up. It's only 9 games in and I'm already sick of seeing Huska's facial tics when the team is losing. It sucks that these guys are going to break a new coach who could have had a good future in the NHL.
This roster is made up of a bunch of coach killers.
I really dislike this edition of the Flames. Bunch of overpaid floaters.
I'm sick and tired of the Oilers being the only ones to show up to the Battle of Alberta lately. It's pathetic and insulting to the fans.
No excuses to not show up to night. In a big game like this. They just handed it to the Oilers. Who didn't even look that good themselves. Two garbage teams.
Time to REBUILD.
The time to rebuild was 2 years ago, we're locked in now to long term contracts. A couple of years ago if you said anything bad about "The Wizard" you would get dogpiled by the regulars around here but the Wizard made sure we aren't going be competing for anything more than a wildcard spot for a long time. Feel bad for Conroy, he deserves better.

Oh that's 100% what will happen, and half this site will jump on board and get excited and start saying the posters cheering for losses are losers and that we need to have a winning culture.
Flames sucked an didn't start playing until the game was half over but
outdoor games are stupid...that 4th Oilers goal was a fluttering shot that hit the ice and bounced 5 feet in the air
ridiculous for an actual NHL game that matters. I hope the Flames steer clear in the future honestly.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course that your take away from this. I actually love your fandom, I mean that sincerely, I wish I could see this team and the world through your eyes.
