Intention matters.

Act accordingly now and maximize our own draft picks and add to the future.
They can still do that. It's not like they had a 2 week window and now they're forever stuck with every player and forced to re-sign them.

It's not like they're not allowed to trade Lindholm. Or Hanifin. Or Tanev at deadline, etc...

Not sure what you're on about.

Keep doing what you're doing Flames. We're getting the results we need.

Is Huska a lame duck coach that we can ride for two years of a rebuild to maximize our own draft picks? Sounds good to me. Ride Huska for 2 years, then go hire Tanguay when you've drafted some actual talent and it's getting ready to play in the NHL.

I fell asleep and forgot to watch the game. Sounds like me and the Flames had the same idea. Cripes.

The thing I don't get with Huberdeau is that he looked pretty good in the first couple of games this season. Not amazing by any stretch, but pretty good to the point I was starting to believe again. Then just nothing after that. Although I will take invisible over turnover machine.

He looked totally uninterested the last couple of games.

Flames obviously aren't just giving Lindholm whatever he wants or he would have signed it

Bottom line is that rebuilds have no guarantee other than losing a bunch of games. There's no 'oh we'll rebuild the awesome way that gets us Super Player X quickly and then we'll turn on our Top Tier Team playing style'

Time to get comfortable and watch this team struggle, persevere, and hopefully develop a playing style. Oh... and lose games.
In 2016-17 MacKinnon was 21, Rantanen 19, Landeskog 23 and Duchene 25... Not like they were in their prime yet.

What does 'committing to a rebuild' mean? By losing games, they're de facto rebuilding and going higher and higher in the next draft. Doesn't matter if they put a sign out that says 'Rebuild in progress'... if they have the worst record in the league, they get the highest chance at #1 pick regardless of their in-season intent.

It's best to be clear about what's going on. The label doesn't matter.

Talking about intention.

The Flames believed they were a good team that was playoff bound. That level of incorrect assessment is not a good indicator.

There seems to be a "oh you guys wanted a rebuild and now you're complaining because we lost" - this team actively, openly said they were not rebuilding. What we're seeing now is incompetence, not forward thinking.

No. Not after all the vitriol I took in that thread I quoted from. After that you're damn right I'm going to throw it down the throats of those who torched me.

Part of it is that he has no one to pass to that can score

Pretty hard to trade any of these guys until the deadline. Nobody has cap

Plenty of other teams have traded players with bigger salary caps before the deadline.

Flames have run out of excuses.

We would be better off with Darryl and Toffoli than we are now with Huska, Backs, Lindholm and Hanafin.

The media is always going on about teams being in a playoff position by American Thanksgiving. I’m wondering whether the Flames are going to score again before American Thanksgiving.

So the seasons they sucked bad enough to get those guys were years prior

The pecking order in NHL rooms is largely about the dollar bills. Signing two guys who had never played a game for the team to huge contracts seems to have destroyed whatever chemistry this team had.

But his passes don't even get through most of the time. He barely even touched the puck the last couple of games. Hard to make good passes if he can't even get possession of the puck.
