Ya I don't really get the "Laine was trying to score, so it's okay to rip his head off." No, it's Laine was trying to score, so it's okay to hit him, but completely unnecessary to try to blow him up, since you weren't going to tie the game anymore.

I was only a daily lurker when moon posted here and I never saw why moon was given a lifetime suspension, but I'm sure it was wild.

I wonder if moon/Spurs is just a very cynical and jaded Flames fan who actually cares a bit about the team? Only Spurs can answer that question, but I think it may stay a mystery.

There was a thing released at the end of that season showing that we went from being one of the least penalized teams to the complete opposite side of the spectrum literally overnight after that hit. So, yes, the Wideman effect was proven to be real.

Just being a Spurs fan should warrant a lifetime suspension

I could take those same numbers and show that it was the game before the Wideman hit that was the catalyst.

OK but nothing happend the game before that would be considered a catalyst. "Calgary played a hockey game on a Tuesday" would be a pretty weird catalyst.

It's the constant Flames always being the leagues whipping boy that I am done with. I haven't spent a dime on the league since the Coleman goal.
I get better service stealing the product anyway.
I don't know how people can put these kind of things past the NHL with the pride tape nonsense and a million other things they have ####ed up on.
We had a ref caught on a hot mic talking about making up a penalty lol
|
Well congrats on stealing the product you hate so much??
If the product is that bad, why devote so much time to it? Have some respect for yourself and find something else that is more worthy of your attention.

I just don’t think those numbers are proof of anything. I’m not going to argue the officials didn’t look at the Flames differently, it seems plausible. But that data isn’t that convincing for me.

First off you didn't find out anything, but not worth going down that path.
If you are claiming that I am a troll for pointing the reality that there is no league wide conspiracy to hold the Flames down and give them undeserved penalties that is pretty weak.
The fact that all people have to refute is to call me names and the always weak aren't a Flames fan because you look at things reasonably says a lot.
The Wideman effect would require the league actively going against one of its own teams, a team that has an owner that is close to the Commissioner and would have potential major financial ramifications if it lost games due to this conspiracy. Beyond that as always with the made up conspiracies it would require many people with no reason to do so, not only go along with the Anti-Flames stance but also then keep quiet about it. It makes no sense.
This is a case of Hanlon's razor. NHL refs are bad, they are wildly inconsistent. When you want to look for bad calls against your team anyone can do it. It wasn't them maliciously harming the Flames it was bad calls because they always make bad calls and now people had given themselves a reason for it.

As for the above statement it always makes me laugh, whether leveled against me or anyone who doesn't tow the company line.
The reality all of my comments are based on my view of the Flames that are backed up by reasoned statements and facts. The so-called terrible things I have said about the team is that they are mediocre, have a poor future going forward and are on the wrong direction. I also have predicted that they would be somewhere between 6-12th this year! My god what a crazy troll that clearly hates the team.
There are very rare cases of people pretending to be Flames fans on this site. They rarely last long and certainly don't spend as much time talking about the day to day running of the club with varied opinions on each individual thing.
The idea that there is only one way to be a fan is sad. The idea that anyone who doesn't follow your way of viewing the team can't be a fan is flat out pathetic.
Not that it matters but I went to my first game in the Corral around 4/5 years old and have been cheering on the team since, I remember the excitement around the city in '89, watching Jarome give me excitement at the end of a dreadful series against Chicago with his debut, foolishly buying into the Young Gun era, watching games using rabbit ears in a parking lot in Spokane during the 04 Cup run. I have had season tickets while living 2 hours away from Calgary and had the joy of bringing my kids to the Saddledome and start raising them as Flames fans. This might not be enough to qualify in your books but for me I think feel it is more than enough for me to consider myself a clear fan of the club and team. It is sad that others can't just let people follow the team the way the want. That only homers can be true fans but it seems that is the way we are moving when it comes to sports. Its not enough for it to be us vs. them with other teams, now fans need to make sure they show they are the "real super fans" and fight against those in their own fanbase for some sort of made up supremacy.

I love the sport...hate the league
After the pride tape thing I'm surprised there isn't more pushback. League is lucky the game itself is so amazing because they do nothing but step on rakes

You're right, I didn't find anything out. I won't take credit for what someone else figured out. Also, I didn't call you any names other than moon which is who you once were. That's not an insult unless you want it to be. Maybe you are confused, but I said it was very possible that you are a Flames fan who is upset with the direction of the team. Read my post a bit more carefully. I wasn't even talking about "the Wideman effect" anymore and I know discussing it with you wouldn't amount to anything for either of us.
Also, my response to the troll feeding was just poking fun at the posts that state "don't feed the troll" as if saying that will somehow stop an individual from posting on CP.

I am not confused and didn't say you called me names, I said the people who were arguing about the league having a bias against the Flames were, I don't remember you discussing that point at all, in fact I think you said they didn't.

You're right about this, although my post was not intended to be a shot at you (I would understand why if you took it that way based on my past posts). I have never believed a Flames fan needs to feel a certain way about the Flames and I never will. I don't think a Flames fan need to be happy with the direction of the team and knowing you probably cheer for the Flames makes me respect your opinions. Loving every move does not make a "super fan." Posting since 2002 and everything you described probably does though.
I know I had a feud with you in the past, but I don't feel that way anymore even though I'll certainly disagree with many more of your posts to come. 89' as a kid is what sucked me in as a fan for life, but I was never fooled by the young gun era
