Last year we started 5-1 or something and we saw how that went.

I’m going to give this group 20 games before I get to worked up

Yeah as a general rule the first 10 games are noise. Especially with the Flames. That said Conroy should've known they would have trouble scoring goals after the Toffoli trade. They should be in on any scoring forward who's disgruntled with his current team. Pinto, Garland, find somebody. Even an offensive D like Poirier. They will have trouble winning games if nothing changes.

I don’t like losing to non-playoff teams.

Our coaching staff looks overmatched.

Our “we’re going to follow the rules” captain… looks like a guy who is too easily satisfied with the status quo.

All that said - not being on the playoff bubble come trade deadline would be the “best case” regardless of which way it goes.

If you have SUPER rose colored glasses - jettison Vladar for Wolf, and hope the return of Jakob Pelletier ignites the offense with Huberdeau. But it feels like this team is too bad to recover.

Huska might be a bad coach I have no idea and on top he is rookie. But he needs to get a grace period of at least half a season, like any other new coach.

Concerning start to the season no doubt. Terrible road trip and not a lot of positives to hold onto. Very much feels like we could be in for a tough stretch as fans with how much Treliving screwed this team. Summer of Brad was a nightmare.

Asset manage and move on. No need to ride even more players into the ground for way too much money.

This isn’t game 6, this is game 88 since 13 and 19 left. Enough is enough Murray.

I feel like this is overly harsh criticism for a guy who’s 6 games into his captaincy role.

People really trying to blame coaching again?

Same #### as last year and coaching/management has changed. The consistent is this group of players.
They just don't have it

I'd say, "Oh no, we suck again" but it's been so long since we haven't sucked that I think we just need to start saying, "oh no, we still suck"

But re-sign everyone! Keep the team together, the answers are in the room! This is our year!

I mean the coach blew up the lines after a decent road trip.

It's not like they got smoked or anything last game. Not only did he blow up the lines he went back to the stuff that didn't click last year.

Not sure what the thought was behind the huge changes.

I think I see some clear differences in the way they're playing this year. The defensive side is definitely zone play. Offensively they're trying to make more cross-ice passes through the neutral zone to exploit the free space and get rushes down the off-wing.

No argument from me that so far it isn't looking like much.

Defensively they do tend to keep the shots from the perimeter but quite often there is a free man going through the middle as a screen / tip. That's a missed assignment. The goalies flubbing long distance shots is obviously a problem, and marking down low has failed due to some individual gaffes. I think this part of the game can be cleaned up.

And more so than prior years, I do see a focus on being more aggressive to turn the puck over early from the other team. When they lose control in the offensive zone you can see there is a strong commitment to immediately pressure the opposing player right as he tries to exit their zone. I like that pressure, but it needs to be smart because it's caused them to overcommit and give up lots of free ice. There's a few instances where I've seen both dmen swarm one side of the ice in the neutral zone, which is obviously risky if you don't break up the play.

I'm more worried about the offensive play through the neutral zone. The passes they're trying are high skill ones, and this team is not at that level. You can see those cross-ice passes often end up behind the player, or are just not properly received and are turned over. Huberdeau is a good passer and you can see even he looks like he's forcing those passes and ends up putting too much on it to get it through, but then the receiver can't control it. I fear that's a skill issue and can't be readily corrected with practice.

Well…. last year the team went 5-1 against all the top teams in the league and gave us all hope, only to rip our hearts out all year long.

Perhaps we’re doing the opposite this year because we can.

Again
It’s early, only game 6. A few positives are obvious.
The new defensive scheme is showing improvements, obviously the offensive creativity is free of the shackles that impeded things in the past and they appear to be having so much more fun this year and that obviously the most important change

They weren't great...but that stat line is a bit unfair to put all the blame on them.

They had 1.0 xGF and 0.76xGA as a line at 5v5 tonight and were out for 4 GA.

They weren't good but Vladar really let the whole team down tonight

I'll agree with some of that, it is early, but Huberdeau and Kadri and Lindholm were straight-up awful.

I'm not saying they had a bad game, they were atrocious.

I really don’t understand the desire to re-sign these guys. It’s not working. This team might make the playoffs but they won’t legitimately compete for a Stanley Cup anytime soon.

I just don’t understand how anyone can look at this roster and think it’s anywhere near good enough, let alone good enough to justify signing anyone long term.

It needs to be burnt down.

Kadri is shaping up as the worst signing this team has ever made

Including James Neal

Everything he touches turns to ####

If things don’t turn around, he has to go
