A "bus tour" is not the same thing as "planning to bus people in to the UCP AGM."

Swing and a miss.

Take Back Alberta and David Parker are on course for increasing their influence over the UCP after the AGM has concluded.

I give him credit for seeing the path on how to mobilize the grassroots support for his agenda and gain control and influence over the governing party here in Alberta.

Yes, I am sure that you are correct that after selling their supporters fresh UCP memberships over the last few weeks and months, and then asking them to support their slate of candidates for board positions that this will be a simple bus tour showing them the location of where the AGM is being held. There is no way that the bus will be making a stop and letting anyone off to cast any votes.

This is a legitimate question for anyone who is currently throwing their support behind the UCP and Danielle Smith:

Are you onboard with the direction that the UCP is headed with the Take Back Alberta movement gaining more traction and influence within the party?

Is David Parker a separatist? Smith has says she’s not (not that I believe it) but if Parker is, he’d have influence.

I’m pretty confident he’s just a corporate shill dressed up as a freedom fighter, not sure if that makes him a separatist or not though.

I ran into Danielle Smith at the Co-Op here in High River. When I made eye contact she quickly turned away hoping I would not recognize her. She was with another guy who clearly wasn't her husband. I thought about walking up and giving her my piece of mind about the APP fiasco but my friend suggested making a scene in public was not a good idea.

You can also make a scene over health, education, natural resources, water, falling employment.... one of those might be an acceptable scene. It's really hard to tell these days.

Dion - from the picture thread many moons ago, I distinctly remember you looking like Macho Man Randy Savage (which is frickin’ awesome), so maybe she was starstruck

Missed a lot of this thread.
To summarize for those of you who missed it as well. PP says he doesn’t agree with APP. That means he is pandering to the far right (even though Trudeau says the same). Also PP doesn’t agree with Smith on this, therefore he is a bad leader.

Edit: also, this is in the Alberta politics thread. Seems his popularity is rising everywhere.

That’s not very honest of you.

I’m the only one who mentioned pandering to the far-right, and I said not supporting APP was evidence of him not pandering to the far-right.

The leadership comment was also completely divorced from any commentary about whether he agrees with Smith or not.

To be honest, I don’t see how the APP fiasco tells us anything about Poilievre, one way or the other. He’s likely to be our next PM based on polling, but that has nothing to do with Danielle Smith or the APP and everything to do with Justin Trudeau.

I give him credit for taking a stand on it, but in the end Poilievre made the only statement he ever could make about the APP, and in doing so he revealed what a terrible strategy pushing this agenda really is. It is so unpopular that even the UCP’s closest allies federally and in other provinces can’t and won’t support it. In trying to “stick it to the feds”, Smith has succeeded in isolating the Alberta government and the Alberta conservatives on the wrong side of an issue that everyone in Canada (including in Alberta) disagrees with her about.

This is basically political malpractice. Even if the real agenda is something different from the APP, Smith has gained no leverage with anyone and has made herself look weak and out of touch. She’s not even playing checkers here—it’s basically Ludo and she’s missing half the pieces.
