I think calling Andersson a scumbag for the hit is completely absurd, to the point the person is probably living on another world entirely inside their head, but I also think posts like these are extremely corny.
There is nothing particular tough or competitive about wanting to see someone get blown up, and there’s definitely nothing sporting about it. It’s not like the hit had any value at all in the game, it was just punishment.

I don’t have a problem with 4 games. Whether other players in the past have been punished fairly for similar hits is sort of irrelevant as the important standard is the one the NHL applies going forward. It was a dangerous hit and totally unnecessary.
I don’t think Andersson is a dirty player but that was a bad hit, it resulted in an injury, and the NHL is trying to improve the safety of the game in terms of head injuries. Hopefully he treats this as a “teachable moment” and is a bit more disciplined in similar situations going forward. I also hope Laine isn’t seriously hurt; concussions suck.

I like longer suspensions for head shots
The problem isn’t this one it’s the other ones that are similar that have been fewer games

The last face off was with 41 seconds remaining Flames needing 2 goals.
At the time of the hit everyone in knew the Flames lost the game.
If a Flame had the puck at that time they would have shot it from outside the blue line at the goalie.

It goes both ways...the game is over why in Laine trying to score and pad his stats

It doesn't go both ways. The point of hockey is to score goals. If a flame tried to score an empty netter you'd be cheering.
Yes, hitting is part of the game. Targeting the head is no longer an acceptable part of the game. Darren Haynes had a good opinion here.

Who gets the call to replace Andersson? Hoping Poirier gets the call. 7 points in 4 AHL games so far.

Context, I'm saying the time doesn't matter. He can try and score but he might get hit.

If time doesn't matter then why does it matter if Laine is trying to score with little time left? Players get bonuses based on points and goals. He might get hit but he shouldn't expect to have his head taken off.

Guys: he left his feet to launch himself into Laines head. That's against the rules, needlessly aggressive and fully suspendable.
When you add the fact there is 2 seconds left in a 3-1 game, it's an indefensible hit. The hit wasn't going to make a material difference to the outcome of the game.
Beyond this, he's hitting a Star player and, like it or not, the NHL has a special duty to protect it's stars to ensure they don't become targets.
To me that's what makes this suspension worthy of 3-5 games instead of 1-2 games.
Zero excuses to make that kind of hit at that stage in the game.

Almost certain that Andersson went to hit the player, and didn't intentionally target the head.
Players have a comfortable method/height in hitting a player so that they themselves are not injured, and if the person getting hit, is in an odd position, even subtly, the point of contact differs. So yeah he hit the head in this case and deserved a short suspension.
Given the vague explanation, you feel there's an assumption that the time left on the clock played a factor in the number of games. As his been mentioned though, said player hit was directly trying to get a goal, he wasnt hanging around behind his own net trying to kill time.

I'm not sure if the game clock played a part. And I also think it should have only been two games. But I think the league looked and saw Andersson lining up a player he could see was low (it's not like Laine dipped down instantly) and in a lapse of judgment or frustration, went for the devastating hit recklessly with his elbow up and upward body trajectory. The league and fans want head shots out of the game. I'd guess players want headshots out of the game.
The wheel of justice inconsistency of NHL suspensions is a joke but this time I just don't think they got it that wrong.

All of the players who may have been called up to replace Andersson played for the Wranglers in Abbotsford last night, so if they do call someone up, it won't be until Tuesday's game.
It will likely depend on how Oesterle looks today.
Next 4 opponents: @ Detroit (today), vs. Rangers (Tuesday), vs. St. Louis (Thursday), @ Edmonton (Sunday).

That's literally my point
It shouldn't matter either way...play until the horn. The time and score have been laid out as factors and IMO they shouldn't be.

at least you changed your stance on that it wasn't a dirty hit and that it was not suspendable...

Just repeating a bunch that’s been said. No issue with 4 games for a head shot / tantrum hit at the end of a game, IF, the league is consistent moving forward.
Faith is low in the last part.
