What happens if after 3 games he starts crushing it?

Forgot to add the first half of last season to that tally.

Pretty easy to see Kadri thinks he's too good for Calgary. Why try in a small market when you've got an ego like him?

I liked this one too, even if it hurts because it’s true.

Well I think Huberdeau can still be salvaged into an actual asset to the organization whereas Kadri is a detriment.

Ok the man made mistakes, especially on his way out but this statement can’t be much farther from the truth.

We’ve has some pretty bad GMs over the years.

How is this easy to see?
I think we can agree he’s playing poorly
I don’t think we can state with such certainty that something like that he thinks he’s too good for Calgary
And how do you know what the size of his ego is?

Don't veterans typically take a bit to get going? Not sure if that's an urban legend or something.

Players like Kadri, Huberdeau, Backlund etc, could take a bit to find their stride.

Kadri was 32 years old and scored 56 points last year. Only 6 times in Flames history has someone been 33+ years old and scored 56+ points. Makarov (twice), Jokinen, Iginla (twice), Giordano.

I'm afraid what you see is what you get.

Both contracts suck but Kadri is being paid like a 60-70pt 2nd line centre and Huberdeau is being paid as a top 10 player in the league.

But ignore that, look at the actual contracts. Kadri has a pretty basic contract with low (or no) signing bonuses and reasonable trade protection. Huberdeau's contract is a joke.

Kadri will be unlikely to ever score 60 points again. Backlund is the real 2C on this team for taking 22% offensive zone starts and playing against all the top players, and PK1. Still gets 40 points/year doing all that. For $4.5-$5.4 million.

Wasn't Kadri supposed to be a two-way C?

Watching him play for a season. He's a vet who's got nothing left to prove, his ego is a hangover from playing in Toronto and winning in Colorado. He's been in an organization that works. When he came here he entered the clown show of the NHL, only natural to check out. Maybe if he hadn't won yet, but he has.

And Huberdeau is unlikely to ever score 110+ pts again.
I said both contracts suck. My point was the contract structures which you completely ignored.

I mean, okay…? I wasn’t defending either contract. At least Huberdeau has a lot more precedent of 30-year-olds having star seasons than 33-year-olds.

Based on their contract strcuturea I'd be willing to bet that Kadri doesn't payout his contract here. He will get LTIRetired, Boughton or traded.

Huberdeau we're stuck with.

My biggest issue with Kadri is he is so disengaged. Here was a guy that when he was in Toronto and Colorado was hated by every other fanbase because he was an insufferable prick. He would constantly be stirring the pot getting under the opposition's skin. Now tell me any time that has happened since signing here. I can't remember a single game where he has played like that. That is his x factor, it is nowhere to be found.
