It’s a catch-22. It likely takes $15 million per year to get Draisaitl to stay. But then you have worry about signing McDavid the following year… which takes $16/17 million. If you let draisaitl go, no way McDavid stays. If you pay draisaitl, you have tonpay McDavid even more and now you’re right back where you started… completely capped out on two players. Will have to shed salary from the rest of the roster.

I honestly think they have two years and then Draisaitl will move on, quickly followed by McDavid. Other teams will make cap space for them in cities more desirable for them… Toronto/NY/LA/Vegas.

Honestly it's almost better if the Oilers keep them
15M and 16M into their 30s

They could win a trade for either hockey wise IMO, especially Drai

The whole interview. What a whiney bot. Then to get butt hurt over a goalie change and then says its not like DeSmith is an EBUG.

I think Drai will want his "own" team at some point.

Feels like the guy who won't love being in the shadow of McDavid forever.

They are in a tough place where trading him will annoy McDavid though, and that it's going to be tough to really replace him because he is great value for $8.5M.

Honestly I think it will end with him walking or him re-signing. I'm not sure I see a scenario where they can trade him.

Well most of the media there are among the rejects that anointed them the cream of the crop in the west this year. Sorry, you are not better than Colorado, Vegas and maybe others when you are 6-7 forwards and 4 defencemen short of having a competent roster.

Please keep going back to the well and blame the goalies for it. 1-2 more season of this and the party is over. No more cap room to do anything even if McMuffin and Drysaddle don't decide to get out for something even remotely competent.

They didn't ask the most important question...

"Connor, why are you so pissy?"

I made a steroids joke earlier in the offseason, but there's something seriously wrong with this dude's health imo. Look at the weird increases in bone density along his brow. His parotid glands also seem to be permanently swollen now. His eyes are way more inset and dark, and now seemingly blink out of time with each other. You can catch multiple instances of exactly this during the interview.

Add to that his skin is nearly translucent and splotchy as all hell. Looks like a heroin junky or something. That picture of rickity cricket last page is close to reality.

The parotid thing is especially noticeable. Looks and sounds like he's wearing a mouthguard when he's not.

Thankfully, no deal would ever have to made on the Canucks never winning the cup. That's just simply reality.

Hard to believe he's only 26, sunken eyes, scrawny upper body and bad skin, looks like someone who just got released from a concentration camp

This is leadership? Who cares if they changed goalies in the 3rd period? Even if Demko wasn't sick it's not like they needed an excuse to do that.

Also who cares who they put out there on their power play? Are you guys going to agree to not try to come back?

I was kind of disappointed that CHED only allowed four callers last night.

Anyone have the videos of Draisaitl and Mcdavids penalties from last night? Sounds like they were throwing some cheap shots (shocking) so I dont blame the Canucks for running it up a bit

I hope civic leaders in Edmonton denounce Connor McDavid as a poor sportsman, and a bad example to children.
