I'm starting to think that Sutter decided that the Flames were not good enough to complete his "unfinished business" and realized that he didn't enjoy coaching a generation of players who expected to be treated as equals. In addition, he didn't like Treliving sticking his nose in and trying to force lineup changes on him. Still wanting to get the full amount of his contract, Sutter feigned going full bat-turd crazy in order to force the Flames to fire him.
This would account for the descent of his coaching decisions into increasingly inexplicable territory the longer the season progressed, particularly when there was a chance of making the playoffs and of not being fired. Almost like a reverse case of constructive dismissal.

If that 2nd PP unit is going to be bad anyway then just have them do something unconventional, experiment and create chaos. Like just have them all skating around the offensive zone at full speed, sliding passes into predetermined areas. Constant movement at high speed, taking turns cutting into the slot. Skating in circles, flying V, whatever.
Not just staying stationary, passing it around the outside 7 times before someone finally decides to take a low percentage shot.

I'll gouge my eyes out if I have to watch the latter again.
Huska needs to have a Ted Lasso night in Amsterdam.

Listened to that Conroy interview. What stuck out to me:
he just touched on the "Darryl stuff". I get the impression some older coaches have checked out whereas Darryl sounded as engaged and stubborn as ever. Too bad he ended his coaching career this way.
Conroy sure speaks fondly of Bob Hartley. Brought him up a number of times.
His take on Sharangovich is quite different that what i had heard from others. Talks about how strong he is defensively and how is great on the PK. So it just seems inexplicable that NJD healthy scratched him during the playoffs, as he sounds perfect for a third line. Hopefully Flames have something here that the Devils missed.
Warrener totally checked out the entire time. I don't really get his appeal TBH as I don't think he pays enough attention to really have meaningful insights.

Probably true re his insight on the Flames. But, he does occasionally give good insight on what it’s like to be an NHL player. Not all dude bro comedy.
I think a bigger criticism would be that he seems moody and only tries when he feels like it

The key is Rasmus I'd greatly at keeping the pucks in the zone. That's why's he is on pp1.
He was going pp1 with gio, opposing team rims the puck around Anderson keeps it in . The key wasn't Anderson on the ice to be a scorer it was to keep the puck from rimming out.

Should have been given a couple of extra years here. Definently what the young core needed .
Sat Johnny and Monny for being to hung over after the superbowl. Kids needed guidance he gave it. 1 or 2 years of Bob and this team is 💯 percent different looking.
