Passed within 10-15 ft. of a good sized black bear today while out biking. We were surprised, he was surprised, but thankfully his reaction was to spin and run away up the mountain. I’ve crossed paths with several bears this year, none were an issue at all, they all just wanted to get away. This one stood out just because of the very close proximity.

But after what happened to this couple, it does make you a little extra aware.

I now know that if I'm in the woods, in a dangerous situation...I want that man by my side.

Because I can totally out-run him while he fumbles around with a can of Bear-Spray yelling 'NO!'
