Don't forget last Friday we had pretty much our opening night roster and they had their minor league team and we lost... Would be super Awesome if we could return the favor. E=NG

For sure ... every team is doing it.
I'm just questioning the value of the plan.

Wolf is the Netminder(!) of the future.
But. why would you throw him to the wolves tonight if he is one already?

I think Vladar will have a strong game. He's a bit of the forgotten man these days with the hyperbole around the two other goaltenders.

Preseason Game 7: Flames @ Oilers. 7pm MT. calgaryflames.com Sportsnet 960
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard and as we all know, the Oilers only give an effort on offense. Just need our guys giving 110%. Man, I’m full of cliches today.

I wonder if the threat of injuries in the preseason is a factor in this trend? I could see coaches preferring to keep their regulars bubble-wrapped for the duration of training camp. This may also work to explain why veterans are so often just coasting through the whole preseason.

Honestly it should be Markstrom starting, so we can see if the Oilers are still taking up space in his head. I would rather figure that out now then at the Heritage Classic.

It's a preseason game. You won't learn anything about the veteran #1 goalie's "headspace" from how he performs in a meaningless preseason game on the road. The best thing for Markstrom is for him to get through the next week without injury, focused, and ready for opening night.

Connor M without Markstrom in goal will probably scores less.

You want to throw him out behind a Wranglers team to face a squad that's close to the Oilers 'A' lineup? I really don't think that's a good idea. It's a meaningless game for the most part.

Not harping on the Flames as we've seen it through the pre season.
But at least the Jets sent their number one goaltender, and another 10 players expected to be on their final roster on Monday night.
|
Only thing I can think of is if the team wants to evaluate their prospects' play away from the puck, playing them against nearly full NHL rosters gives you ample opportunity to witness that.

Just hoping the Flames can keep the GA under 10. Maybe score 1 or 2 as well.
Also hoping Zary plays well enough to take a spot.

Yep, basically it's sink or swim for the Flames young guys tonight. I don't mind it. Let's see who steps up.

considering he's the Oilers best defenseman, he'd be the last guy they'd want on LTIR.

If that happens then I'll care nothing of the score.
It will be the best exhibition game ever.

Looks like the Oilers are gunning for that preseason championship banner.
