That's a really difficult question to answer and it's not really a total binary answer from an industry perspective. When flu shot money went down in Alberta a lot of independent pharmacists stopped providing them, but they were still getting more than we were and no one here stopped. Having said that, lots of pharmacies didn't offer vaccinations here because of the low pay. From a business perspective, when demand is high you can do a standalone clinic and 10-15 shots an hour and even $10 would make it somewhat profitable. Where it gets less worth it is when demand is lower and you have to fit it into workflow when you're chronically understaffed. By the time you log into whatever system, get the supplies out, get prepared, do the shot and put everything back it could be 7-10 minutes. At ~$50+ an hour plus supplies and overhead even $12 probably isn't really worth it in some markets

Alberta fascists tightening their grip.
Quote:
In June, The Globe reported that the Alberta government was testing the limits of its FOI law, by rejecting nearly two dozen FOI requests filed as part of the Secret Canada project. The requests were filed in 2022 for a national audit designed to measure Canadian jurisdictions’ performance on access and transparency. The Globe sent more than 250 requests to every department and ministry in Canada – provincial, territorial and federal – seeking access to basic data from each institution’s internal FOI tracking system.
Only Alberta refused.
All 22 Alberta ministries claimed that “no records” existed – even though officials acknowledged using an FOI tracking system. The province claimed that in order to provide the requested information, it would need to “create a record,” which officials argue the law does not require them to do. (At issue is the fact that, technically, downloading information from a database, creates a new record.)
Maureen Towle, the province’s assistant deputy minister of data, privacy and innovation, told The Globe in June that because the information “doesn’t exist exactly in the format that you requested,” from the perspective of the government’s legal team, Alberta was not required to provide it.
However, section 10(2) of Alberta’s FOI act explicitly states that a public institution “must create a record” if the original is in electronic format, if the manipulation can be done “using its normal computer hardware and software and technical expertise” and if creating the record would not “unreasonably interfere with the operations” of the institution. This section is called the “duty to assist,” which is one of the areas being examined in the OIPC systemic investigation.

I guess they want to hide all the reports that show them to be lying criminals.

Are we surprised this is the behavior of a government that made Kenney, Savage and Shandro the Board of Directors for a corporation that uses Albertan's tax dollars to fight about Bigfoot movies with Netflix, instead of a FOIP-able government agency or structure that can justify its bloated budget and skivvy activities?
No sir.

The amount of motivated, angry right-wing nutjobs in this province, including the UCP and Take Bake Alberta, is concerning. This Alberta is a far cry from the days of responsible and respectful leadership of Lougheed, where civility, tact and an intelligent vision for Alberta seen as paramount to Alberta's success and reputation. It's sad to see.
Real conservatives seriously need to take back ownership of what their party used to be. Today's conservative movement lacks integrity, is embarrassing, and dangerous, to the long-term well-being of this province. This dive to the far right is going to do severe damage to all Albertans. And people like Yoho eat it up like the brainwashed lemmings they are.

The right wing victim complex is baffling in this province. You've made governments in Alberta for how many out of the last 50 years?
I have always felt that I could not be more lucky to live in Alberta. If anything I feel humble about how good we've got it.

Probably the only conspiracy theory that I believe in, is the suppression of the cure for cancer.

I'm ok with Naturopaths as a last resort, Doctor's advice has already failed, I have nothing to do here but try type of service, but I have open question on how much this type of service costs the taxpayers and it's overall efficacy.
A recent personal anecdote, but my wife saw a naturopath after many years of dead ends for gastro issues that she has seen several doctors about. They've eliminated all major illnesses (thankfully-sort of) but my wife still struggles periodically and is pretty steadfast about following advice.
She went a saw a naturopath about a month ago, and the only suggested changes were extremely minor - different time of day to take probiotic, with specific foods, new vitamin regime, a type of tea. And she has actually had some abatement of her distress.
Again- it worked for us personally, though esoterically. There is still no one who can identify what's wrong with my wife (other than that she married me- haha).
But trusting a naturopath over something like cancer seems totally asinine. Their college should greatly curtail the issues they are legally allowed to consult on, and confine them to specific non life threatening ailments.
I don't care if someone with fibromyalgia wants to see a naturopath- go nuts. But Naturopaths shouldn't be advising people with sarcoma.

If I was dying, and modern medicine has failed, I think I’d probably just spent my money on escorts and drugs. Like just enjoy your remaining days. I can’t see consuming non-hallucinogenic teas and concoctions as the best way to spend the end of your life.

Yeah me too, but freedom and all. I think everyone should be able to choose how they spend their remaining days. But I also don't think that "no medical answer" automatically means death. Like fibromyalgia, or gastro-intestinal issues.
