A lot of members here would at least have no problem getting his name spelled correctly.

I would much rather have sillinger than pinto. Sillinger had a better 18 yo season than pinto did as a 21 yo last year.
Pinto is fine I guess- ottawa doesn't seem like the best to trade with. Limited cap means they'll want futures. Maybe if we offered up ruzicka they would be interested?

Would Ruzicka even be claimed on waivers?

If he gets waived now, yes easily, if he gets waived late into the season and has less than 15 points - probably no. He’s not getting waived any time soon

I'm a fan of both players. Detractors of Sillinger's will point to his season last year, which was dismal with only 11 points in 64 games, followed by a tour of duty in the AHL. Pinto lost a season of development to injury in 2021-22, and is still growing as a player. Both are FAR from being finished products.

I would take either one for Lindholm. We're a cap team that isn't a contender. Give me a team with a possible prospect like these two PLUS cap space any day of the week.

I still think if we're truly going for it, we'll need Lindholm. If it turns out that he won't sign, and it sounds like he likely will sign, then getting a young C like those 2 in a package would be dreamy.
I think that trading Lindholm for Pinto won't be necessary, or possible from the Sens' perspective. They have a surplus of quality prospects that can step in right away, and they need cap space. Perhaps we could come up with some futures to send their way, and we'll have Lindy AND Pinto....

I’ve been watching this team for 25 to 30 years. There’s not going to be a season that we’re not going for it. They are going to resign Lindholm.

Not at that price. I can’t see how they would make the salary cap work.

With Pelts injury Ruzicka is likely to start the season as the 4LW or 4C.
He hasn't played badly at all during the pre-season, I just think a lot of us see the potential and are frustrated with his laid back playing style.

Thinking outside the box. With Kylington and Pelletier on ltir, would it make sense for the flames to take on Joseph from the sens, provided we get a good sweetener? Get an asset back that we could use in future trade negotiations, or use for ourselves down the line? Use that dead space to our advantage. Joseph comes from the TB organization and they’ve been pretty shrewd in talent evaluation. Might even be able to get Ottawa to retain if they are desperate to sign Pinto.

Doubt it but there is always one or two odd guys getting claimed on waivers.
But every team has their own versions of Ruzicka that fans get excited about but ultimately do nothing.

Was Kylinton ever on LTIR last year?

If that happens, Calgary will take an identical hit in trade value.
They have the same risk.
Except they have the identical risk of losing him for nothing.
He may not hold all the leverage, but he holds the majority of it.

Hear what you are saying, but I don't think the leverage is as asymmetric as you describe.
The fair thing for both sides is to get a contract that represents what Lindholm brings. If he has another 60 point year, then Lindholm, Flames and any other team out there knows his value. And its not 8.5mm x 8 or whatever. Lindholm stands to lose massively.
For the flames, a slow start by Lindholm might be the best outcome for the long term.
If he doesn't sign and has a meh year, then his trade value goes down a bit, but he still isn't worthless in the final year of a ~$5mm contract.

He would be an example of what I am talking about. I think the vast majority, maybe every team outside of Arizona, didn't really think about him at all because they have their own versions.
