I was wondering this because so many of Chris’ relatives seem to have had it. It seems that 90% of ALS cases are not linked to genetics (so only 10% are genetically linked), but a parent that has the genetic mutation that causes ALS leaves their child with a 50/50 chance of developing ALS.

Certainly hoping the Snow children beat those odds.

Extremely brutal news.

Saw him leaving the rink in Penticton after the Sept 15 game. He looked fit and healthy. I only wish now that we had said hi.

I know many were hoping chris beat this but , there is no cure to date . It was always going to end this way. It’s sad and hopefully one day a cure will be found due to people like chris raising awareness. I feel for his family. It's an awful way to go and to watch a love one to go. Unfortunately, this was always the scripts end. At the end of the day I hope his journey highlights the struggle to spark more break through in the fight of this desiese.

Very sad news, was hoping we'd never have to read this update.
This family has done so much for raising awareness on this disease and handled themselves like absolute legends. It has been very impressive and impactful to witness.

Wow… such an impressive human, that whole family is amazing. Chris has created an everlasting legacy for the community that is affected by this disease and for the city of Calgary and the Flames org, he’s a legend and he’ll be greatly missed. Ty for being such great examples of what it is to be compassionate and how to act in the face of life changing challenges Snow family, you’ve inspired and helped countless others and will continue to do so and you’re in our hearts forever.

I am truly gutted that such a good man was put through the suffering and detonation of this dreadful disease and yet stayed true to himself throughout. Chris, you are a better person than so, so many of us. Your legacy will not be forgotten. You and your family are a treasure.

What an inspiration Chris and his family have been for all of us over the last five years as they have so bravely battled this illness through all the ups and downs.

It makes much of the concerns the rest of us deal with trite in comparison. Hug your family, count your blessings.
