I like the Gen Z styles. I think my kids and their friends look cool (boys and girls 15-17). They kind of DGAF in some ways, but they're actually quite particular even though it looks sloppy at first glance. Comfort is a priority and their tastes are the polar opposite of ostentatious. It's all about thrifting and such. I respect it.

Teva's and sandals were a thing in the 90's

What am I missing though...how are socks and sandals functional in any possible way?

You ever wear sandals without going to the beach or near a body of water? Why do you do that?

I must be incredibly tired, because I have no clue what you're driving at.

Convenience, ease to slip on slip on sandals and then socks keep the feet warm. I do it all the time.

Judge away, judge away.

You’re clearly a monster.

Wait, what’s this about you wearing socks with sandals now?

I'd rather see someone in socks and sandals than their gross feet exposed.

First you need to figure out why sandals are functional, then you can figure out why socks and sandals are functional.

My old housemates girlfriend lived with us and she was granola as they come. she'd cheat on the vegan with bacon.

There was a metal corona bucket in our boot room on a top shelf, I grab it, sloshing water in it with god knows what in it, drips landing on my face as I pulled it off the shelf. Put it back. Turns out she was soaking her re-usable vag pads in it. Thanks a lot.

I think every gen-z I've spent time with that claims they're on one of the diets has cheated. Pretty frequently too.

What's strange is they're push it out of their mind like it never happened and go back to talking about their identity as a this or that.

On a road trip with their group and the only stop they make is at McDonalds? Of course they're going to get something. They'll go into a little fugue state while they're ingesting those fries/wrap/burger, then 20 minutes later they're back on the vegan train or whatever. Vegan means vegan with exceptions on days when they feel like it, and you saw nothing.

But that's just in my experience.

Function over form once again.

Strict veganism to the point of inconvenience? Form over function.

Vegan when you can and easygoing when you can't? Function over form, and a way more sustainable, healthier lifestyle.

My hippy was vegan as well.

Something about her diet caused her to take massive ####s and clog the toilet. I was always expected to unclog it.

My very recent ex has 3 kids (15, 17, 19) who are quite trendy, as is my ex herself. She was telling me the style now is to kind of dress super casual - almost "bummy" like that, but you just need to have one piece of clothing or accessory that's quite nice to complete the look. And yes white sneaks are everything now, with that white tube sock look.

That also explains why the consignment stores by my place are almost as expensive as new clothing stores at the mall, the consignment look is all the rage with young people now.

Two weekends ago I completely ruined a very nice roast on the smoker. Found an even nicer roast last weekend and I felt like I had complete redemption as it cooked beautifully. Oddly, it wasn’t particularly flavorful. Woke up in the middle of the night with terrible chills…remembered my beautiful tasteless roast and went to get a covid test. Yup, covid positive and my sense of taste and smell is completely gone. So, I feel like complete garbage and I won’t get to fully enjoy one morsel of the beautiful roast.
