Tbh the star trek thread has sustained my interest in the forums during periods... but I think that's the best part of this community. It's easy to bond with fellow flames fans about other random things too. I know a very very limited few people here outside of the forum but still feel connected to many through arcane means. It's delightful and relieving.

Say what you will, but there is a kinship amongst many things.

If you go to a Flames game in your jersey you feel like a part of the many other fans.

Similar with Star Trek, there is that feeling that we're all in this together.

Maybe not every thread, but just look at the Babcock one. Yes we have the Johnny connection, but it's a team in a different country and a different conference, lol, and still people can't help but snipe each other. It's pretty embarrassing.

This is Calgary Puck in the Summer. Every summer. The Off-season is always rough.

Granted, the last couple of off-seasons have been rougher than most (thanks Johnny and Brad!) but its like this for a while.

Once pre-season starts up everyone calms down.

If the Flames had success again and we saw an large influx of next generation posters it would be very interesting around here seeing the usual subjects try to keep up with hassling all the newbies who don't know what's what. I guess the hidden blessing in the mediocrity of the team is the unpopularity of the Flames has allowed the old dogs to keep their safe haven for yelling at clouds and Seinfeld references.

My favourite part of summer on CP is the annual claims of everyone being ornery and agitated in their posting due to it being the long off season. Then the season starts and the entire board posts exactly the same through the whole year

There's a reason I come here even though I'm not really a hardcore Flames/Hockey fan these days.

It's still the best Hockey "Community" online. Easily.
