If the Flames had success again and we saw an large influx of next generation posters it would be very interesting around here seeing the usual subjects try to keep up with hassling all the newbies who don't know what's what. They might not get any sleep in trying to deal out enough blows on every instance of zoomer attitudes and language. I guess the hidden blessing in the mediocrity of the team is the unpopularity of the Flames has allowed the old dogs to keep their safe haven for yelling at clouds and Seinfeld references.

Jesus christ, get a grip.

Oh, sorry I didn't have a Seinfeld gif for you.

Being a local anti-fan (before my 5 year USA sabbatical), I frequented that forum a lot, but I felt more pity than disdain during the Benning era, so I lost interest.

I only recently returned to it, to follow my Nephew’s thread.

Similar to this one, I mostly login for rumours, news and average Joe commentary.

The circular arguments that derail threads is getting old tho.

That’s bull####. There is no correlation between ‘handling a forum’ and success IRL.

Reddit is awful for most any discussions. There are a few - very few - technical subs there that are not pollluted by either idiocy or (apparently?) very young posters with little real-world experience.

The more general subs IMO are virtually unreadable other than as sheer entertainment (eg r/kitchenconfidential which is for BOH restaurant staff and is rather amusing most of the time).

Have never tried a hockey sub there though.

Wanted to add: CP is absolutely far and away *the FIRST* place I come for Flames news. Always.

sureloss is a treasure. Many other posters make observations, "insider" info such as it may be, and comments mostly fun to read and skim.

This post is exactly the kind of garbage you're attempting to criticize. You would do well to spend more time worrying about your own posts.

As someone who abhors Twitter, the 'X' or whatever its calling itself these days...I admire sureloss as one of the best posters on here.

He's willing to dig his hands into the filth so I can keep mine clean!

Plus I get hockey news!

I think I've asked this before, but are Scorp and I the only ones here who are under 30?

I find the posters on the Flames subreddit definitely skew younger, but this site is still my No.1 source of all things Flames. The quality and breadth of discussion is unmatched.

Makes me sad young people aren't using forums anymore. I started posting on CP when I was in highschool and attribute a lot of my growth in writing and critical thinking as a young person to browsing this forum every day.

Happy Sunday to you too!

I'm just poking fun at the state of the forum. But thanks for the unprovoked shot for no good reason.

If it rubs you the wrong way, maybe try just scrolling on past?

I don't have any gripes with you so I don't know why you're taking such exception.

Okay, so back on topic, wasnt 'Canucks.com' a forum run by the Canucks organization?

I thought it was an 'official' thing. Whereas we pride ourselves here as being 'unofficial.'

Personally, I liked the fact a thread about the Canucks turned into Flames fans fighting one another.

It's still the off-season following another Calgary Flames letdown. Some things are like clockwork.

Me and locke are both under 40 and probably two of the more active in the star trek thread.

Tbh the star trek thread has sustained my interest in the forums during periods... but I think that's the best part of this community. It's easy to bond with fellow flames fans about other random things too. I know a very very limited few people here outside of the forum but still feel connected to many through arcane means. It's delightful and relieving.
